Thank you to all of the volunteers at SAR 👏👏

Today, our team was called to assist a member of the public experiencing a medical emergency in a remote area of our response region.

Our volunteers quickly mobilized, reached the patient, and safely transferred their care to BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS).

A special thank you to Silver King Helicopters for safely flying our members into the incident. We greatly appreciate your professionalism, quick response, and continued support of search and rescue operations.

Calls like these are a reminder that emergencies can happen anywhere. Bulkley Valley Search & Rescue is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year—and there is never a charge to those who need our assistance.

Thank you SAR Volunteers for always suiting up to help those in need 💪!

This afternoon, Bulkley Valley Search and Rescue was tasked to assist with a reported overdue party. Fortunately, after gathering additional information and coordinating with family and friends, it was determined that the subject was safe and no rescue was required.

While this call ended with a positive outcome, it serves as an important reminder of the value of trip planning and communication when heading into the outdoors.

Before every adventure, take the time to:
✅ Leave a detailed trip plan with a trusted friend or family member.
✅ Carry a reliable communication device such as a Garmin inReach or satellite messenger.
✅ Ensure the person holding your trip plan knows how to communicate with you using your device and understands when and how to initiate emergency procedures if you miss your expected return time.

Many unnecessary searches can be avoided when accurate trip information is available and communication channels are clearly understood by everyone involved.

We encourage everyone heading into the backcountry to follow AdventureSmart's guidance by using a Trip Plan and remembering the Three Ts: Trip Planning, Training, and Taking the Essentials.
