Congratulations to Fond du Lac Denesuline First Nation on a truly remarkable milestone.

At the invitation of Chief Augier and Council, we were deeply honoured to be part of the opening ceremony for the new nation owned and operated store—a moment that reflects vision, determination, and collective pride.

What stood out most was the spirit behind this achievement. This is more than a store—it’s a commitment to ensuring access to high-quality food and essential supplies at fair, sustainable prices for community members. Equally important is the creation of meaningful employment and training opportunities that will support long-term growth.

From the opening prayer to the speeches and ribbon cutting, there was a strong and shared sense that this project represents something bigger. Honoured guests Grand Chief Brian Hardlotte, Vice Chief Joseph Tsannie and Vice Chief Christopher Jobb, and Al Ducharme from Prince Albert Grand Council gathered side by side with Elders, youth, and families, celebrating not just what has been built, but what it makes possible.

Thank you to everyone in Fond du Lac for your warm welcome and for allowing us to share in such a meaningful day. This was a celebration of community, resilience, and a clear, inspiring vision for the future.

Upgrading the Skies: More Comfort & Improved Connections for Northern Communities

At Rise Air, our mission is about more than just flying—it’s about connecting people and supporting remote communities.

Thanks to the launch of our second ATR 42-500 aircraft into regular service, we are bringing a whole new level of convenience to our customers.

Our summer schedule is in effect allowing us to deliver for our scheduled service customers, including ATR 42-500s now stopping in Uranium City twice a week, offering a direct connection to the rest of our network.

Additionally for passengers and freight services into Wollaston Lake, we recently retired the last SAAB 340 in our fleet and have the ATRs operating on this route, offering improved passenger comfort with more space and a quieter cabin experience plus an increase in freight capacity.

"Connecting families and helping deliver services to these communities is the heartbeat of what we do in the north," said Kristi Knight, Director, Commercial at Rise Air.

Duane LaRocque, Chairperson of Uranium City, added: "On behalf of the Uranium City Council and the residents of our community, I am writing to express our profound gratitude... Thank you for making Uranium City a designated stop for the ATR plane. For a remote and fly-in community like ours, accessible aviation connections are absolutely critical. Integrating the ATR aircraft into our routing brings enhanced reliability, improved connectivity, and renewed opportunities for our town... Thank you for your vision, partnership, and dedication to our community."

Two events, two Rise Air teams—one central location. You’ll find us at the Jonas Roberts Memorial Community Centre in La Ronge for Core Days 2026 and the LLRIB & KCDA Career Fair.

Kristi Knight and Maksym Poliakov are doing more than exhibiting at Core Days this year. Following the fish fry, they’ll be leading tours for attendees, offering a closer look at our La Ronge facilities and the people, expertise, and teamwork behind the services we deliver.

On the recruitment front, Jake Ho from our HR team, alongside local colleagues, is leading our outreach to those interested in aviation careers with Rise Air and Snowbird Aviation Services.

We’ve even brought a flight simulator so attendees can try their hand at navigating the North—right from the safety of the JRMCC.

The tri-community region is home to one of our largest operational bases, and we’re proud to be part of building a stronger future here through training, careers, and long-term opportunities.

When it comes to air services in Northern Saskatchewan, Rise Air is the trusted partner—helping our customers move forward and grow.

Rise Air provides air services on floats, skis, and wheels, offering the versatility needed in this market. Snowbird Aviation Services, our sister company, provides extensive ground and customer services, including in-house de-icing and refuelling facilities, passenger lounges, and freight forwarding across Northern Saskatchewan.

While many customers charter small aircraft for exploration directly from Saskatoon and other southern bases, we also offer an extensive scheduled flight network operating six days a week across northern communities. Travelling on scheduled service allows customers to connect with charter flights and manage costs more effectively. Inspired by the REDress Project by Métis artist Jaime Black, the red dresses we see today are a visual reminder of the "presence through absence"—honouring those who are missing and standing in solidarity with their families and communities.
