*REGARDING NEW REGULATIONS*
*A PROPOS DE LA NOUVELLE REGLEMENTATION*

Since the new regulations came out back in February about shipping cull cows to auction everyone has been scared to ship cows because the new regulations noted that the cow you shipped had to be dried off , if she had any milk at all she wouldnt pass, it caused alot of confusion, people where upset about having to dry off a cow before deciding to ship her, ( how could you possibly dry a cow off if shes one month fresh and giving 45kg of milk per day?) it just didn’t make sense right? Come to know that those so called “new rules” never made a difference ,guys have been shipping cows still milking 40-50 kg/day and the cows are selling no problem at the auction, weve talked to buyers and inspectors and they said if the cow is walking on all 4 legs there will be no problem, i know some of you have been told to not ship them to auction and to ship them straight to the slaughterhouse in Guelph because your cows wont pass at the auction if they’re still milking but i just want to clarify that thats all FALSE ! My opinion is that you are better off to ship your cows to an auction ,you’ll get a better price because you have 4-5 guys bidding on the cows so its only common sense that the price will be higher compared to if you ship directly to the slaughter house where you only have one guy thats buying your cows and theres no competition , pretty easy for that one guy to give you what ever he feels like paying you for your cow compared to having mutiple buyers bidding on one cow at an auction. Also you have to remember you’ll probably have a better chance of getting your cow condemned if selling straight to the slaughter house because they dont pay you until shes on the hook so if she has any little thing wrong with her she will be condemned, whereas at the sale as soon as she goes through that sale ring she is sold and what ever happens to her after is not your problem, i just wanted to take a moment and clarify these things with you guys because i had been getting lots of questions and had been hearing lots of rumours lately about not sending cows to the auction. In the other hand, if ever you would rather send your cows directly to the slaughterhouse in Guelph we can do that for you too, there is a weekly rate for $/ lb on the hook that we will know ahead of time , and you will receive your weigh slip with your check, for any more details dont be shy to contact us 450-544- 3404.
