When the phone rang, and the caller identified himself as a reporter for the CBC wanting to interview Wolf Transport for an article he was doing on the highway 11 twinning....I thought it was a joke some one was playing on me, but nope, sure enough, it was real.
When I asked him why he wanted to interview Wolf Transport, he said that he asked people in Rocky who would be good to talk to that is on highway 11 a lot. He told me people told him to talk to Wolf Transport, no one has been on that highway as long as they have.
When I told him that, well, I myself have 26 years driving that highway, and that Wolf Transport has been around since 1973, 53 years, he was adequately impressed....
I told him, he should talk to Keith, because he's been on that highway for over 40 years. That highway 11 used to run where 11a is now betweenRed Deer and Sylvan, they had do go thru Sylvan on Lakshore Drive just to get to Rocky. The 2 lane highway wasn't even there when Keith started driving. It was all farm land.
Well, then, he wouldn't take no for an answer. He came out to our house on a windy snowy day, and did his filming
He wasn't interested in me and my paltry 26 years.... He wanted Keith for the interview... which was 100% fine for me as being in front of a camera and on TV was the absolute last thing I would want to do!
Alberta Transportation plans to twin Highway 11 between Sylvan Lake and Rocky Mountain House. Since the route is a key entry point to Alberta’s national park...
