"Throwback Thursday" Urchin Friday first launched in Steveston, BC in the Spring of 2006—and 20 years later in 2026, we’re proud to look back on two decades of sharing this incredible local delicacy and seeing more and more people discover why BC sea urchin is truly something special. Crawdad was lost in a tragic diving accident on October 15, 2023. PUHA took time before sharing a clip, as his loss has been deeply felt across the dive fisheries in BC. Dive safety is something we take very seriously, and Brian’s passing has left a lasting impact on our community.
Rest in Peace, Crawdad

Throw back Sunday-A peek at International Marketing:
British Columbia seafood has long been recognized on the global stage for its premium quality, sustainability, and deep connection to the clean waters of the Pacific. From sea urchin to wild salmon, harvesters and processors have built a reputation that reaches markets across Asia, Europe, and beyond.

Strong international marketing—supported by industry and government partnerships—has been key to telling that story, showcasing not just the product, but the people and coastal communities behind it.

The first joint BC pavilion/podium 2016 in Qingdao China, marked an important step forward, helping position BC seafood as a world-class choice and opening doors that continue to benefit the industry today.

Hard to believe this was 10 years ago… time flies!
