Did you know that “prohibited” and “restricted” don’t mean the same thing in international logistics? 🚢📦
Making a mistake when classifying your goods can result in customs delays, fines, or the detention of your shipment.
Here’s the difference:
🚫 Prohibited Cargo:
These are goods whose import, transit, or export are completely banned by law.
There are no permits, exceptions, or procedures that allow for their transport (e.g., illegal substances, protected species, or unauthorized materials).
⚠️ Restricted Cargo:
These are products that can be transported but require special authorizations, customs licenses, certified packaging, or specific technical documentation (e.g., lithium batteries, chemicals, food, medications, or certain electronic equipment).
At Mega Cargo Canada, we advise you to ensure your cargo always travels in compliance with regulations, safely, and without surprises at the port or airport.
