Port of Johnstown

Directions Website

Port of Johnstown In October 2000 the Township of Edwardsburgh Cardinal purchased the Port from Ports Canada.

The Port of Johnstown was built in approximately 1930, the Port has gone through many changes and growths throughout the years to now become one of Eastern Ontario's Premier Ports for Truck, Vessel and Rail shipping and receiving of grains, salt, aggregate, and other project cargo. In 2014 our name was changed from the Port of Prescott to the Port of Johnstown. In 2016 the Port completed a 5 year project to expand our Wharf to accommodate more variations of project cargo in the future. As the agricultural and marine industries change and grow, our goal is to change and grow with it.

There’s just something about harvest season at the Port of Johnstown.

The early mornings, long days, steady stream of trucks, and the familiar hustle and bustle that comes with one of our busiest times of year.

We recently welcomed our first vessel of the 2026 harvest season and wanted to share a little glimpse of what that looks like from our side of the operation.

Behind every truck, every vessel and every tonne of grain moved, there are a whole lot of hardworking people making it happen.

To our local producers, agricultural community, brokers, customers, and industry partners - thank you. We know the hours are long, the work isn't always easy, and there are plenty of things outside of anyone's control. We appreciate the trust you place in us and the relationships we've built along the way.

And to our Port staff - thank you for the grind. The early starts, late finishes, flexibility and willingness to do whatever needs doing. It doesn't go unnoticed.

We're proud to play our part in getting our region's harvest to market, but even more proud of the people who make it possible.

Wishing everyone a safe, productive and prosperous harvest season. Let's keep taking care of one another out there!

Oversized loads travelling through Edwardsburgh Cardinal

Five transformer deliveries are expected to travel from the Port of Johnstown to the Skyview 2 BESS project site between September 21 and October 6.

The oversized loads will travel along County Road 2, Highway 16, Highway 416, County Road 21, County Road 22 and Dobbie Road.

Motorists may experience brief traffic holds and reduced speeds at locations along the route while the oversized loads pass through intersections and cross certain structures.
