Located in Pitt Meadows, BC, north of the Fraser River, Pitt Meadows Airport is your gateway to BC. The Airport consists of one 5000 ft runway, two 2485 ft paved runways, a water runway, float ramp and floatplane dock and a staffed control tower. It is the home base for four major rotary wing operations, provides a float plane dock and ramp, and serves approximately 250 locally based float and reg

ular aircraft. Aviation services at the Pitt Meadows Airport include:
- Aviation support services, fuel sales, hangars, and engineering
- Flight training for fixed, float, helicopter, commercial and APL
- Scheduled passenger service
- Charter Service – fixed, float, helicopter
- Avionics sale and service
- Aircraft painting – outside and indoor
- Aircraft sales and repair

Non-Aviation commerce at the airport includes:
- A large blueberry farm
- A restaurant
- A large horticulture nursery
- Driver training for first responders (ambulance, fire & police)
- Pitt Meadows Fire Department (temporarily)

What started as a small community event has grown into one of the region's favourite aviation celebrations—with up to 6,000 attendees!

But here's the fun fact...

Airport Day takes about 9 months to plan.

That means emails, meetings, spreadsheets, site plans, coffee...and just a little controlled chaos all begin in September.

✈️ On This Day in Aviation History

On August 16, 1947, the legendary De Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver took to the skies for its very first flight at Downsview, Ontario.

Designed and built in Canada, the Beaver was engineered for the demanding conditions of the Canadian wilderness. With its exceptional short takeoff and landing (STOL) capabilities and ability to operate on wheels, skis, or floats, it quickly became the gold standard for bush flying. Powered by a Pratt & Whitney R-985 Wasp Junior radial engine, the Beaver’s rugged reliability has kept it flying for nearly 80 years—and it’s still a favourite among pilots today.

At the controls for that historic first flight was Russell Bannock, a decorated WWII fighter ace and De Havilland Canada’s chief test pilot. His expertise helped shape the Beaver into one of the most respected and enduring aircraft ever built, before he went on to lead the company as its president.

A true Canadian aviation icon that continues to connect remote communities, support essential operations, and inspire generations of pilots.
