Meet Karen Davy.

If you’ve ever worked with her, you know this is her element: constantly jotting down notes, calling ahead to venues, and doing mental meeting math to ensure every detail is accounted for before delegates even arrive.

Having a dedicated partner who understands the realities of event ex*****on makes all the difference when planning in a new destination.

From plane to downtown hotel in eight minutes.

While other cities are still waiting on rideshares, your delegates are already in the lobby. Direct flights from Vancouver and Calgary make arrivals simple. Short transfers protect your agenda and create more usable meeting hours.

For planners balancing budget requirements with high delegate expectations, timing is everything. While spring and fall offer fantastic weather and iconic Okanagan scenery, winter delivers a compelling, cost-effective alternative.

Choosing winter for your Penticton event offers significant financial advantages alongside memorable attendee experiences:

✅ Maximum Budget Flexibility: Take advantage of favorable winter accommodation rates and increased availability across local conference venues and meeting facilities.

✅ Accessible Winter Experiences: Offer delegates quick access to easy, beginner-friendly slopes, tubing, and cozy mountain lodge vibes at Apex Mountain Resort (30 mins away) or scenic snowshoeing across 45 km of trails at Nickel Plate Nordic Centre.

✅Walkable Downtown & Local Flavour: Simple logistics mean attendees can easily explore downtown dining and lakefront views right after afternoon breakouts.

Planning a conference in a new city can feel daunting. When McElhanney hosted their Young Professionals Conference here this April, our team made sure the planning process was as relaxed as the setting itself.

We loved working with Michelle to source locally-made, branded items that aligned with their company’s priorities, and secure corporate airline rates to make attendee travel a breeze.

We can't wait to welcome McElhanney back to Penticton.

At Outside the Box BC, we believe collaboration between our three destinations is how we move the needle on the industry and keep meetings exciting. As a partnership between Meet in Kamloops, Meet in Penticton, and Meet in Nanaimo, we're here to showcase what our cities can offer over a five year span.

Book all three destinations within a five year window and earn $10 back per room night. Submit one RFP through our website and receive three tailored proposals, so comparing your options is easy.

From the Salish Sea views in Nanaimo, to the hoodoos of Kamloops, to the South Okanagan sunsets of Penticton, our three destinations couldn't be more different geographically. What brings us together is our collaboration in this industry.

Penticton is hosting the 2026 Canadian National Square, Round and Clog Dance Festival at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre from July 15 to 18.

Dancers are coming from across Canada and around the world, and there are a few chances for the public to join in.

Friday July 17: Square dance at Kings Park, 9:00-10:00am
Saturday July 18: Square dance at Okanagan Lake Park, 12:30-1:30 p.m.
Saturday July 18: Public Try It sessions at the PTCC, 1:30-4:30 p.m.

Spectators are welcome at all three.

Looking for ways to keep delegates engaged between sessions? The Cannery Trade Centre is one of Penticton's most distinctive spots.

Housed in the original Canadian Canners building, it brings together over 30 local businesses including a brewery and tap house, live theatre, a virtual reality studio, pottery lessons, coffee, and a micro bakery, all in a single indoor space with a lot of character.

It works well as a companion program stop, a casual delegate outing, or simply a recommendation to share in your event welcome package.

Karen Davy was in Regina at CanSPEP recently, connecting with planners from across the country.

She travelled as part of Outside the Box BC, a collective of three BC destinations: Penticton, Nanaimo, and Kamloops.

Outside the Box BC travels together because it is more efficient for planners and more cost-effective for each destination. One RFP submission connects planners to all three destinations simultaneously. Planners who book all three destinations within five years receive $10 back per room night at each location, on top of any individual destination incentives.

If you are planning a conference, association event, or corporate retreat in British Columbia, a conversation with Karen is the fastest way to understand what Penticton can offer.

Last week, Meet in Penticton had the privilege of welcoming six meeting planners to Penticton as part of the Ignite Magazine FAM tour, hosted in partnership with the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre and Penticton Lakeside Resort and Conference Centre.

To the six planners who gave their time, their questions, and their perspective: thank you. Your curiosity and generosity made this experience what it was. We hope Penticton gave you something useful to bring back to your work.

Gratitude as well to the teams at PTCC and Lakeside for their hospitality, and to Ignite Magazine for the partnership that brought this group together.

If you are a planner considering Penticton for an upcoming conference, association meeting, or retreat, we would welcome the conversation.
