It’s the dust, the noise, the sheer scale of it all!

The drama, chaos, and instinct all at once, and no two crossings are ever the same.

August is prime time for this, and we couldn’t be more excited for our next wave of guests to witness it firsthand. Some things you just have to see with your own eyes, and being on the edge of the river bank waiting to catch a crossing or two will give you a thrill like no other!

It’s me or you… maybe there are one or two too many! 😄

Until you stand among thousands of Cape fur seals, it’s impossible to imagine just how alive the Skeleton Coast really is.

And let’s not even talk about their side-eye game… but I can tell you this: the air is filled with their calls. The beach never stops moving. Everywhere you look, another story is unfolding.

Breeding bulls battle for territory, mothers nurse their pups along the shore, and thousands upon thousands of seals transform Namibia’s rugged coastline into one of the wildest spectacles on Earth.

It doesn’t matter how many times you’ve done it — every trek is different, making each encounter uniquely your own.

The way mothers care for their young. The way siblings play. The way the silverback quietly watches over the family.

You quickly realize you’re not simply observing wildlife — you’re witnessing a family going about its daily life in the heart of Africa’s rainforest.

And that’s when something shifts.

For a brief moment, the distance between human and gorilla feels remarkably small.

Surrounded by mist-covered mountains, ancient forests, and the sounds of the jungle, you find yourself looking into the eyes of a wild mountain gorilla and recognizing something familiar.

How do you measure a journey through Tanzania?

By the miles traveled?

The parks visited? The animals seen?

Or by the moments that unexpectedly stay with you long after you return home?

Over the past ten days, the Wojton family explored some of northern Tanzania’s most iconic landscapes — from Arusha National Park and Lake Manyara to Tarangire, the Ngorongoro Crater, and the vast wilderness of the Serengeti.

There were plenty of memorable sightings along the way.

But what stood out most was something harder to describe.

The feeling of waking up to a new landscape each morning.

The excitement of never knowing what the day might bring.

The laughter shared in the vehicle with Richard, our naturalist guide and encyclopedia of all things wildlife, culture, and wilderness.

The evenings spent around a campfire beneath the African sky.

And the people who transformed a great trip into something deeply personal.

One message from Elisabeth captured it beautifully:

“We felt like royalty the entire time. It felt more like someone’s home they welcomed you into instead of just a lodge where you are a number.”

That is exactly what we hope every guest takes home with them.

Not just photographs of wildlife, but a genuine connection to Tanzania, its people, its wildlife, and its wilderness.

To Andrew, Elisabeth, and the entire Wojton family, thank you for allowing us to be part of your adventure. Your kind words, beautiful photographs, and genuine appreciation for Tanzania’s wilderness have meant the world to us.

Playtime is over only when a silverback says so…

At least that’s what it looked like… 🙄

One of the most fascinating things about spending time with mountain gorillas is how often their family dynamics feel so familiar.

The youngsters never seem ready for playtime to end, while the adults gently keep order within the group.

Watching these siblings interact was a beautiful reminder that family bonds, curiosity, and affection aren’t uniquely human.

Sometimes, deep in the jungles of Uganda, you realize we may not be all that different after all.

The wildlife encounters are only part of the story…

What happens when you spend more than 20 days exploring the African wilderness?

Over the past few weeks, Jo and Jim have journeyed through some of Tanzania’s most spectacular landscapes — from the lush forests of Lake Manyara and the wildlife-rich floor of the Ngorongoro Crater, to Ndutu, Moru, Central Serengeti, and the vast open plains of Eastern Serengeti.

Along the way, there have been some incredible encounters:

More than 130 elephants.
Plenty of lions.
4 black rhinos.
2 servals.
Cheetahs on the hunt.

Several leopards, including one resting in a distant tree.
And a lion cub perched in a tree in the south-central Serengeti alongside five of its siblings.

But who’s counting?

A safari is never just about the numbers.

It’s about the anticipation of what might be waiting around the next corner. The early mornings before the wilderness wakes up. The excitement of discovering something unexpected. The stories that begin long before the camera comes out.

And perhaps that’s the most remarkable part of all.

No matter how much you’ve already seen, the wilderness always seems to have one more story left to tell. Even after nearly three weeks, Tanzania is still finding new ways to surprise them.

How do you know a place is getting under your skin?

When the sounds, the smells, and the unhurried pace of pole pole begin to feel familiar.

Over the past few days, Darlene has been exploring Uganda’s wild corners — from the powerful waters of Murchison Falls and the Nile River to forests filled with chimpanzees, birds, and countless other wildlife encounters.

There were special moments along the way.

A chimpanzee that looked like it had been put in “time out.”

A mother with her baby quietly tucked beside her — a sighting Darlene wasn’t even sure she had captured until she looked back at her photos.

And, of course, the elephants, giraffes, hippos, buffalo, crocodiles, and endless birdlife that make Uganda so remarkable.

But what stayed with her most wasn’t something she saw.

It was something she heard.

The sounds of Uganda echoing through the landscape, creating a feeling she described as “a welcome to my home in the African wilderness.”

And perhaps that’s the greatest compliment a place can receive.

What do a baboon handprint, a Maasai warrior, and a hyena have in common?

They all became part of our wonderful VIP guests, the Wojton family’s story this week in Tanzania.

While many people dream about the wildlife, it’s often the unexpected moments that become the memories you talk about for years afterward.

From close encounters with elephants right from the doorstep of their lodge in Tarangire, to rhinos in the Ngorongoro Crater, and zebras, lions, and countless other wildlife encounters across Arusha National Park, Tarangire, Lake Manyara, and the Ngorongoro Crater — every day has brought something new.

Then there was the baboon who decided to leave its signature on the back of the Wito Africa safari vehicle.

And one of the family members even made a new friend, sharing a conversation with a Maasai warrior by the pool at Neptune Ngorongoro as the sun dipped below the horizon.

This is what we love most about family safaris. The wildlife may bring you here, but it’s the collection of small moments in between that often become the most meaningful.

And speaking of meaningful moments, no safari is complete without an exceptional guide — someone who not only knows the wildlife and understands the wilderness, but who can also connect with guests on a personal level.
