๐Based on Facebook posts we've seen from some avid Railfans, the secret is out. We have a acquired another locomotive!๐
We began discussions with Pembina Gas Infrastructure in early February on their GMDH-1 locomotive that has been located at their Kaybob Amalgamated Facility near Fox Creek Alberta since 1981. As it was no longer being used, they were willing to discuss moving it to a new home.
This contribution from Pembina Gas Infrastructure will go a long way to our ongoing sustainability and we thank them for working with us. We are excited to put this locomotive to use and restoring it to its former glory!
A few details about the locomotive:
-The GMDH-1 is an experimental diesel hydraulic switcher locomotive built in Canada by General Motors in the 1950s
-One of four General Motors Diesel Hydraulic-1 (GMDH-1) locomotives ever built and the only one still in operating condition
-Today, the KA Locomotive Unit stands as one of the rarest locomotives in North America and a unique piece of Canadian rail and energy industry history
