There’s “ocean view”… and then there’s ocean view 🌴

Room category names can mean different things from one resort to the next. Sometimes even within the same resort, where your room is located can make a big difference.

That’s why I look beyond the room category name and check what you’re actually booking before deciding whether paying more for the view is worth it.

Maybe that morning coffee with a wide-open ocean view is exactly what you want.

Or maybe you’d rather put that money toward something else on your vacation.

Save this one for the next time you’re comparing resort rooms.

A resort can look peaceful in the photos and sound peaceful in the description. Neither tells you what Tuesday night at 11 p.m. is going to sound like.

Construction nearby, room location, entertainment schedules and how the resort is actually laid out can make a very big difference once you’re there.

These are the kinds of questions worth asking before you book — not when you’re lying awake listening to the pool bar playlist.

If you’re saving Europe for a summer vacation... I’d rethink that.

Not because Europe isn’t beautiful in the summer. It’s because the way we experience it has changed.

Extreme heat is becoming part of the travel conversation. This summer, record-low river levels have even affected river cruise itineraries.
That’s not just a weather story. It’s a travel story.

When someone tells me they want to go to Europe, I don’t start with the calendar. I start with the trip they want to have.

A Mediterranean cruise, a Danube river cruise, Tuscany, Portugal and the Swiss Alps don’t all have the same “best” time to visit.

That’s why I don’t automatically recommend summer anymore.

Sometimes the most important planning decision isn’t where you go - it’s when you go.

Most vacation conversations start with where.

Mexico. Italy. Alaska. Europe.

I like to start with a different question. How do you want to travel?

The same person might choose a cruise for one trip, an all-inclusive for another, and an independent itinerary for the next.

There isn’t one “right” way to travel—it’s about finding the style that fits the vacation you want this time.

You know what’s funny?

People love telling you about the amazing last-minute deal they found. They never tell you about the vacation they didn’t take because they waited.

The idea that waiting always saves money is one of the biggest misconceptions in travel.

Sometimes it works but more often than not, the best cabins, flights and rooms are already gone, leaving fewer choices and higher prices.

There’s a difference between saving money and settling.

My job isn’t to convince you to book everything early. It’s to help you understand the trade-offs, so you can decide what’s worth waiting for... and what isn’t.
