On November 16, 2022, the British Columbia (B.C.) Provincial Court found Da Zhou, Zhao Chen, and Ngai Chau guilty of significant violations under the Fisheries Act, including the obstruction of justice and violations of recreational fishing regulations involving rockfish and lingcod. The Honourable Justice Mrozinski delivered her sentence by prohibiting the three men from fishing for a year. She also ordered them to pay a total of $17,500 in combined fines and instructed that all of the defendants’ associated gear involved in the violations, including rods, reels, and lures, at an estimated value of $1,000, be forfeited to the Crown. I've chartered fishing with this vessel since 2014. When Covid-19 hit, then I pulled the boat out of the water and decided to update the whole boat as much as I could. I'm sorry to say my wife passed away in December 2020. It put me into a tailspin for a long time. She was my soul mate. Plus going through the whole Covid-19 issue for a few years stalled a lot of my energy. This being said I'm back to my old self and the boat is coming together as fast as I can get it there. Just call me to book me for charters. It's a perfect energy booster for this old Captain. I love teaching my guest's how to catch fish.

Well I wasn't surprised! Yet it takes it's toll on the fishing charter related business. Chinook Salmon is non retention April 1st to July 31st for most southern Island tidal waters and non-tidal waters will be closed to them also.

Just so people know, my charter business name is fishoncharters.ca. I switched back to using it once the DFO changed the regulations in my fishing area 17. They are closing many bottom fish species as well as salmon species in many areas to protect the existing fish from depletion. I can trailer my boat so you can just call or text me to enquire of which area you want to fish in.

A news update about fishoncharters.ca. Our plans for the new year 2021. Since Covid-19 changed our plans for this past seasons fishing charters, we must wait to see which way the new year unfolds. My focus is to work the MyBabeToo as our main boat based in Nanaimo for March, April, May. Then for June, July & August move my boat to Port Alberni. "MyBabeToo" will fish in the Bamfield - Alberni Canal areas on the west coast as guests confirm . The maximum number of guests is 6 in total per charter. All guests and crew are required to wear face masks at all times. All people onboard must be in normal good health and must comply with the BC government standards to Covid-19 strick requirements. If it becomes possible that the vaccine for Covid-19 is administered to all guests and crew then this requirement may be amended to reflect that change. All gear and surfaces touched onboard with be constantly cleaned and sanitized during and prior to embarking on the charter. Hand washing is required while changing fishing rods or handling any fishing gear. Our crew will clean and sanitize the washroom after each use. If any guests use or dispose of personal pads or napkins please use the waste containers only. Do not flush any type of item down sinks or toilets as it will damage the toilet or plumbing pump's. Your Captain will conduct a quick meeting to explain the features and requirements prior to departure.

Happy & Healthy New Year,. To all my visitors, friends and guests. We are looking forward to another year of fishing. I'm planning to have my boat in Port Alberni and Bamfield this year. I'll look forward to seeing you all onboard.
