MEET THE TEAM TUESDAY – TOM TETRAULT
This Tuesday, we’re introducing one of the familiar faces behind the wheel at Abacus Enterprises — Tom Tetrault!
Tom has been driving truck on and off since 1992, bringing decades of experience behind the wheel. He joined the Abacus team four years ago and has been helping keep our equipment and materials moving ever since.
Most days, you’ll find Tom running one of our Quad/Wagon Combos, but every now and then he switches things up and gets behind the wheel of one of our lowboys, moving heavy equipment from job to job.
When the workday is done, Tom enjoys spending time with his wife at their acreage. And when Alberta’s summer weather rolls around, he trades in his truck for two wheels— hitting the open road and touring on his motorcycle.
With years of experience, versatility, and a willingness to jump into whatever needs to be hauled, Tom is a valued part of the Abacus crew.

300,000 sq. ft. of parking lot completely reworked and brought back to life by Abacus Enterprises.

Our crews hit this project from start to finish — reworking the existing surface, reshaping the lot, correcting the grade, and finishing it off with a solid limestone cap.

With the right heavy iron, experienced operators, and trucking power, we turned a tired parking lot into a clean, hard-packed, professional surface built to handle serious traffic.

The finished product speaks for itself, and even better — the owner was thrilled with how it turned out.

Meet the Team Tuesday: Alex Dernier

We’re excited to introduce Alex Dernier, who joined Abacus Enterprises as a Technician in our shop in October 2024. Alex has quickly become a key member of our team, known for his hard work, positive attitude, and that infectious bounce in his step that lights up the workspace.

You’ll often find Alex joking around with his fellow technicians, contributing greatly to the high morale in our shop. He’s not only essential to keeping our fleet in top condition and on the road but also a main source of entertainment—especially at our annual Abacus Christmas parties!

Alex is currently heading back to class to pursue his Journeyman certificate, exemplifying the kind of personal and professional growth we love to support at Abacus.

When he’s not hard at work or hitting the books, Alex enjoys kicking back and watching or playing a good hockey game.

We’re proud to have Alex on the Abacus team!

Today, on April 28, Abacus Enterprises solemnly honors the National Day of Mourning.

We remember and pay our deepest respects to all those who have lost their lives, been injured, or fallen ill due to work-related incidents.

This day is a powerful reminder for all of us to renew our commitment to improving health and safety standards in every workplace — because everyone deserves to return home safely.
