An old low loader man Wilson McCormick posted this picture of his 3 x children in front of Charlie Conwells Mack Phantom 309 .

It made me remember how every Sunday morning Charlie would set sail south for Felixstowe or Southampton in a crisp white tea shirt often reloading 25t ingots out of Sheffield and often doing 3 x trips week as my old man would say just as well they were on log books back then .

Charlie would ring our house every Sunday night about 6pm to give his hours and expenses to my mum I would race to the phone for a bit of crack and find out where he was , what he had on and where he was heading for .

Growing up learning about this way of life ensures I never forget the sacrifices lorry men make on a daily basis leaving family at home for the life on the road .

Always good to see the motors getting some time away from what we call plant donkey work which will always be our bread and butter and we would never forget that .

What makes the transformation from the heavy plant work to heavy fabrication and engineering challenges is the knowledge and skill set that our guys all have and that makes the transformation so much easier for us and our clients across the UK 👍👍
