DAY 11 - ATHENIAN RIVIERA 🌊🇬🇷

Today was really just a day to slow down and soak in our final full day in Greece.

We still had our hop-on hop-off bus passes from yesterday, so after a little confusion figuring out where exactly we were supposed to get on 😂 we eventually made our way out to explore the beautiful Athenian Riviera.

And honestly? It was so worth it.

Getting back near the water and dipping my toes into the Mediterranean one more time was such a nice feeling. We didn’t end up swimming, but we did find a lovely little seaside restaurant at one of the beach clubs where we sat with coffee, snacks, ocean views, and just enjoyed the slower pace of the day before heading back into Athens.

Tomorrow is officially flight day, which means a very long travel day ahead. By the time I get home tomorrow night, I think I’ll be ready for about a week of sleep and recovery 😂

But honestly, this trip has been absolutely incredible and I already know Greece is somewhere I’ll return to again someday.

And for all my lovely clients and future travellers, I’ll officially be back to business as usual by the 27th and ready to jump back into planning dream vacations ✈️☀️

If you’ve been thinking about planning a trip, just a reminder that my process always starts with a quick call so we can chat about what you’re looking for and make sure we’re a good fit.

DAY 10 - SHOPPING & STREET FOOD IN ATHENS 🇬🇷🛍️

Today was a rainy day and one of our last free days in Greece, so we decided to grab a hop-on hop-off bus pass and spend the day exploring Athens a little more casually.

One of our main stops was Monastiraki Square, which ended up being such a fun place to wander around. Between the little shops, market stalls, cafés, and the incredible views of the Acropolis peeking out above the city, it was honestly the perfect way to spend a slower-paced day.

We definitely shopped until we dropped 😂 and somehow managed to spend WAY too much money 🤑 but honestly… no regrets. There were just too many cute things and little treasures to pass up.

And of course, no Athens day is complete without amazing food. We grabbed some pretty incredible street food while wandering around and it may have been one of my favorite meals of the trip so far. Greece truly never misses when it comes to food.

Even with the rain popping in and out throughout the day, it ended up being such a fantastic day and a really nice balance before heading home soon.

Tomorrow we’re finally heading to the beach! ☀️🌊 Stay tuned!

DAY 9 - BACK TO ATHENS 🇬🇷⛴️

Today was mostly a travel day as we made our way back from Santorini to Athens by ferry.

We had an early start this morning and spent a little over 5 hours crossing the Aegean Sea, stopping along the way at the islands of Naxos, Paros, Mykonos, and Syros before arriving at the port of Piraeus in Athens. Even just seeing some of these lesser-known islands through the ferry windows was enough to have me mentally adding them to my “next Greece trip” list 😂 I definitely think I need to come back and explore a few more off-the-beaten-path islands someday. Maybe next year? 👀

Honestly though, the absolute highlight of my day came when we arrived in port and spotted the beautiful Star Clipper docked in Piraeus preparing for an Aegean sailing departing tomorrow.

If you know me at all, you know I have a full-blown love affair with Star Clippers 😂⛵️

The Star Clipper is smaller than the Royal Clipper that I sailed through the Caribbean in March, carrying approximately 166 guests compared to Royal Clipper’s 227, but it offers the exact same magical experience. Tall ship sailing, intimate ports, incredible service, open-deck sailing, and that unmatched feeling of truly “traveling differently.”

Naturally, I immediately asked my husband if he’d be interested in changing our flights and hopping onboard tomorrow instead 😂 Unfortunately his answer was no. Rude, honestly. Hahaha.

Today may not have been quite as exciting as some of our sightseeing days, but I think we all needed a couple slower-paced days back in Athens before heading home on May 25th.

Tomorrow we were hoping for a beach club day along the Athenian Riviera, but the forecast is starting to look a little rainy… so now we’re thinking maybe the Olympic Museum or something a little less exposed to the elements 😂

Either way, I’m just happy to still be soaking up every last second of Greece. 💙

DAY 8 - PRIVATE TOURING IN SANTORINI 🇬🇷✨

Today was probably the nicest weather we’ve had so far on this trip, and honestly, we fully took advantage of it.

We spent the morning lounging by the pool at El Greco Resort & Spa, soaking up the sunshine, relaxing, and enjoying a slower start to the day before heading out on our private island tour. After so much sightseeing and moving from place to place, it was exactly what we needed.

Later in the day, we hired a private driver/guide to help us make the absolute most of our final full day in Santorini, and honestly… it was one of the best decisions we made on this trip.

Santorini is significantly larger than Mykonos, and there is SO much to see beyond the main tourist areas. Having a private guide allowed us to experience so much more of the island, and we truly had the best day.

We visited the lighthouse overlooking the sea, stopped unexpectedly to admire the sweetest donkey on the side of the road (whose enclosure had its own little palapa, which honestly sent me 😂), explored the famous black sand beach, and wandered through the cutest little village that completely stole my heart… even if I cannot remember the name of it for the life of me.

And if last night’s sunset hadn’t already made me fall in love with Santorini… today absolutely sealed the deal. 💙

One of the highlights of the day was visiting the Monastery of St. Elias, located at the highest point on the island. The drive up there was slightly terrifying for this Saskatchewan girl 😂 but the panoramic views from the top were absolutely worth every second.

Our guide, Lisandros, was incredibly knowledgeable and so much fun to spend the day with. We learned so many fascinating things about the island and Greece itself.

A few fun facts from today:
• Santorini got its name from Saint Irene. Italian and Spanish sailors referred to the island as “Santa Ireni,” which eventually evolved into Santorini.
• The oldest olive tree in the world is believed to be in Crete and is approximately 1,500 years old.
• Saint Mary’s Name Day, celebrated every August 15th, is the biggest festival on the island.
• Plato once wrote about an advanced civilization in this region, and many experts speculate that Santorini may be connected to the legend of the lost city of Atlantis.

Tomorrow morning we’re back on the ferry to Athens, where we have two more free days before heading home. And yes… the Athenian Riviera beach clubs are officially calling our names ☀️

I honestly cannot believe how quickly this trip has flown by. Greece has exceeded every expectation I had, and I’m already thinking about when I can come back.

This country truly does not disappoint. 🇬🇷✨
