Why Seed?
I have been fascinated with seed starting for, well, as long as I can remember. I’ve gardened pretty much my entire life. Life without a garden is like life without a bird, right? Not everyone shares that opinion with me. Weird eh.
Why seed? I think everyone can agree on this, way more bang for your buck. Then there is the challenge and excitement of growing your own plants. Home grown plants tend to be tougher, plants from seedlings are allowed to grow as they should, not forced for quick sale in the greenhouses and nurseries. The best reason for starting from seed, you just can’t find a lot of these species as plants at your local seller.
All wild collected seed is ethically collected. I travel central Alberta and into the mountains to collect seed each year. Seed is also collected from my own gardens and some of my very generous and wonderful neighbors, thank you.
Beautiful Blooms does not have a store front, we are 100% online at https://beautifulblooms.ab.ca/page/index. Our entire catalog is online, and is updated frequently. This way you can shop from the comfort and coziness of your home, in your jammies if you so desire. Another bonus of being 100% online is that I am able to keep overhead down and pass those savings on to my customers. As far as I know, I have still have the cheapest shipping. Any order under 10 packages and under is only $3.50 within Canada. Orders to the United States are $5 and International orders are $10. I actually lose money on international once you factor in packaging costs and so on, but that’s ok. The further and wider I can spread seeds, the happier I am. Trying to make the planet greener, one seed at a time.
