Be a Bus Stop Pro!

The start of school is just around the corner! Here are some quick tips for families to ensure student safety and to become Bus Stop Pros!

• Arrive at your bus stop 10 minutes early
• Stand on the sidewalk or in the green space where the bus driver can see you
• Do not play on private property, including landscaping and porches
• Always wait for the bus to come to a complete stop before walking towards the bus
• If you and your child must cross the road to board the bus, be sure to follow these safety steps:
o Wait back from the road in a safe area.
o Wait until the school bus red lights are flashing, the stop arm is extended from the side of the bus, and the crossing gate is out in front of the bus
o Wait and watch for the bus driver to signal that it is safe to cross.
o Always cross in front of the bus.
o Look both ways before crossing.

PLEASE SHARE
🚌 Heads up, drivers: school buses return September 8!
Starting next week, approximately 500 yellow school buses will return to our roadways after the summer break. Please plan ahead, allow extra time for your commute, and be alert for buses making frequent stops.

🟡 🔴School Bus lights🔴🟡

🟡 Amber flashing lights mean the school bus is approaching a stop. Slow down and be prepared to stop.
🔴 When the bus has its red lights flashing and the stop arm extended, all traffic must stop.
✅ Let’s work together to keep students safe as they head back to school. Please share this reminder with family, friends, and fellow drivers.

• Visit the Delays & Cancellations section of our website at https://geoquery.buskids.ca/Alerts
• Subscribe to email alerts through the Parent Portal.
• Listen to local radio stations for cancellation announcements.
