Another project we are working on this winter, Pearl, a custom designed, cold moulded runabout patterned from the lines of a classic Chris Craft. We are just starting to lay down her deck.

What’s new with Second Chance? Finishing touches on the forward cabin, completing the details on the head compartment and starting the electrical rough-in to name a few. Watch along and we bring her closer to her late spring launch.

Second Chance XXIII, a Chris Craft Commander under complete restoration is coming along now with the new hardtop lowered into place and the custom interior fit-out coming together. Keep following as we bring her across the finish line, and a surprise to be unveiled soon.

Making some changes to the design of Pearl, a custom built, cold molded, 22ft mahogany runabout with classic lines. The initial forward opening hatch just didn’t look right so we have redesigned it to split down the centre and open outwards. This allows the hatches to follow the deck camber and sheer, really pulling her lines out. Framework it complete and next week we will dry fit to her hull. We are also making some structural modifications to the hull, working out some details as we get her ready to lay down the deck. Stay tuned for more updates.

Matriarch getting some keel attention; keel released, old bolts knocked out, straightened, seam payed with new cotton caulking, and new keel bolts going in today. A lot of changes coming to her. Starboard side ribs complete and new planking being lined off in preparation for caulking.

We are currently completing work on Seeker and laying out the deck on Pearl. Seeker is receiving its seventh coat today, while we initiate preliminary decking installation on Pearl. Further updates on Seeker, Pearl, Second Chance 23, and Independence will be provided as we progress toward completing these classic boats.

Took a short break this last weekend to attend WAMBO and celebrate the 150th birthday of Wallacburg. We took Molly-B, our 1963, 36ft Chris Craft Constellation to the show and won Furthest Travelled. Rob did another great job organizing and managing the boat show. Thanks Rob. Our “flotilla” from Acali Place Marina will return next year, with more vintage and classics in tow. It is a great weekend of boats, cars, motorcycles, vintage fire trucks, friends and food. Now to build up the number of boats at the show…..word of mouth is great marketing, so spread the word and join us all next year.

Seeker is starting to come together. Decks have been repaired, faired, primed and top coated. The new toe rail have been CNC milled, stained and are now being dry fit. We are happy to report that our scanning and modeling has been Bristol, allowing us to perfectly align the screw holes in the new toe rails with the existing tapped holes in the deck. This saves huge amounts of time as we do not have to drill and tap any holes while putting down the new toe rails. Stay tuned and we bed these components down and put her all back together.
