Gordon Groundwater of British Canadian Importers on why his team relies on Pacific Coast Distribution:

“They were just a breath of fresh air, especially when you need help. You need to know you can count on someone. And I didn’t forget that... That’s what my dad taught me, and I’ve kept that going.”

Here’s a quick highlight from a recent episode of SHELFSPACE on the often-invisible backbone of the food value chain.

When things run smoothly, warehousing, shipping, and logistics sit comfortably in the background. But when a supplier gets dropped with only weeks to find a new warehousing partner—or when incoming cargo is compromised and you need a team to handle the fallout—supply chain infrastructure suddenly becomes the only thing that matters.

How do you evaluate reliability in your supply chain before a crisis forces your hand?

Here’s a highlight from our conversation on SHELFSPACE with Gordon Groundwater of British Canadian Importers.

We chatted about the importance of site visits, the value of third-party audits, and why just showing up still matters.

This is especially true for emerging CPG founders who have to be ruthless with every travel dollar. Skipping the visit is efficient. It’s also a liability.

His through-line is clear: be consistent, be persistent, and face-to-face still wins.

Jamie and Chris lost their Mom to breast cancer and what started as a backyard fundraiser put on by a handful of folks has grown into a cultural phenomenon, and a standout community, called Gone Country.
This past weekend at Jamestown (the old-time movie set just down the road from our Langley warehouse), the twins and hundreds of volunteers rallied thousands together to raise a glass, kick up some dust, and haul-in some serious money. $970,000 for the new Breast Cancer Clinic at — how amazing is that?
Our Pacific Coast Distribution family has been a sponsoring partner for over a decade, and while we’re proud to play our small part, nights like this only happen because of the selfless, dedicated work of an incredible volunteer crew — a year of planning, late nights, hard work, and all the heart in the world. We’re in awe of the committed humans who make countless sacrifices to help these twins honour their mother, create a cathartic space for so many of us to express our love to those we’ve lost, and bring some good into the world.
Kudos to the twinscancerfundraising team who made it happen.
And yes, they can count on our support next year. It’s how we roll.

Happy Canada Day 🇨🇦 from our team and families to yours!

Today, most of our team is trading the forklifts and shipping lines for some well-deserved family time, BBQs, and fireworks. To the crew members taking one for the team and working the holiday today: maximum respect. 🙌

We hope you are all enjoying a change of pace today.

A massive thank you to our incredible crew in BC and AB who keep everything moving and carefully stored year-round.

Safe travels to everyone on the roads this week—and here’s hoping that patriotic spirit carries Team Canada ⚽️ to victory this weekend!

We are thrilled to welcome a new client, Bali Water, to the Pacific Coast Distribution family!

They are launching an exciting roadshow at Costco Burnaby with their delicious new line of non-alcoholic flavored waters (trust us, they look amazing).

But as anyone in the CPG supply chain knows… timelines don't always go as planned.

When their container arrived late the product required an urgent, massive rework to ensure it hit the Costco floor TODAY!

With our warehouse team already running at maximum capacity, we had a choice to make.

The choice was easy: half our office staff jumped up from their workstations, rolled up their sleeves, and ran to the warehouse floor to help out.

When our partners are in a pinch, we operate as one team, one family, to get the job done.

Huge shoutout to our incredible team for showing what true partnership looks like, and congratulations to Bali Water on a successful launch here in BC!

Let's be honest... our industry has a reputation for skirting regulations, over-promising, and creating a lot of unnecessary chaos and mistrust for clients.

At Pacific Coast Distribution we choose a different path.

We believe a true supply chain partnership is forged in absolute transparency, honesty, and trust.

Our General Manager, Chris Funk, sat down to co-host an interview with one of our valued clients—Gordon Groundwater, from British Canadian Importers Ltd—who has over 1,000 pallets in our warehouse network!

It’s not often a vendor and a client pull back the curtain together, but when you build a relationship based on open communication, you have nothing to hide.

Gordon chatted through the chaotic, fast-moving world of global food sourcing, Canadian retail dynamics, and what it actually takes to build a resilient food supply chain today.

Whether you are navigating strict food safety regulations, dealing with ingredient sourcing hurdles, or trying to manage logistics for grocery retail, this conversation is packed with real, unvarnished insights from the front lines of international trade.

A massive thank you to Gordon for his time, his insights, and most importantly, his partnership.

So proud of our Calgary warehouse team this week! Our SQF Certification’s yearly validation audit resulted in a 100% score! 🎉

This score is a result of hard work and the commitment to food safety and quality processes; not just occasionally, but 365 days a year. Big thanks to for leading the team through the audit and for continuously raising the bar to our quality assurance programs.
