A special message from Killarney Lake Boat Works, wishing you and yours a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. Be safe, be kind, and make memories that last.
“Thanksgiving is the season of gratitude, a time to count our blessings, gather with the people we love, and remember that the best things in life aren’t things at all.”
For me, this weekend has always meant something special. Growing up at Holland River Marina, Thanksgiving was the day we closed up the boating season. We’d lift the boats out of their slips, and just like that, the season was over. The water on Lake Simcoe would start to lower, the docks would empty, and the lake would settle into its quiet winter rest.
There’s something beautiful about that, the way a season ends not with a bang, but with a slow, peaceful letting go. The boats are tucked away, the water goes still, and we get to spend the cold months remembering the warm ones.
So as we send off Season 26, we want to thank every one of you for being part of it. For the sunrises on the water, the long afternoons, the fish that got away, and the ones that didn’t.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Spend it with your family. Be grateful for what you have, and for the people who make it all worth it.
See you in the spring. 🚤🍂
