Here are the 5 biggest mistakes I see:

🗺️ Focusing on price instead of itinerary.
This is the biggest one. Alaska itineraries are NOT all the same. Glacier viewing, scenic cruising, and port experiences can vary dramatically depending on the route.

🚂 Not realizing cruise tours exist.
Many travelers automatically choose a roundtrip sailing without realizing they could combine their cruise with incredible inland Alaska experiences. One way cruises reach ports and views that roundtrip itineraries won’t and deepen the Alaskan experience with true wilderness explorations.

💸 Budgeting for the cruise - but not Alaska.
The cruise fare is only part of the cost. Port experiences and excursions like whale watching, dog sledding, helicopter rides, rail journeys, and glacier experiences can quickly become the highlight of the trip but come at a price that many travelers are not prepared for.

⚓ Choosing a cruise line before choosing the experience.
The best cruise line depends on what matters most to you. Not all cruise lines deliver Alaska the same way. Some areas are only open to select cruise lines and not all itineraries are created equal. Arrival/Departure times, docking locations and route matter.

❄️ Underestimating Alaska's packing list.
Packing for Alaska is NOT the same as packing for your Caribbean cruise but strategic decisions can help avoid huge shopping lists. Alaska weather can change quickly, and packing the right layers, outerwear, and footwear can make a huge difference in your overall experience.

The truth?

The best Alaska cruise isn't always the cheapest one.It's the one that matches the experience you're hoping to have.

First thing I ask? Are you looking at the West Coast, the East Coast or are you flexible?

OBB is at Disney California Adventure. MNSSHP is at Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. For a lot of families, that alone makes the decision.

But if you have flexibility? Here’s where it gets interesting. 👇

💚 I point clients toward Oogie Boogie Bash when: They live for the villains. They want treat trails that are actually an experience. They’re okay planning now out because tickets vanish. They want a Halloween party that feels a little dark, a little edgy, and completely unlike anything else Disney does.

🎃 I point clients toward Mickey’s Not-So-Scary when: They want classic Disney Halloween magic. The Boo-to-You Parade. The Headless Horseman. Cinderella Castle fireworks. The Sanderson Sisters. Trick-or-treating throughout the park with their kids. Classic Characters (and some rare ones) in their Halloween finest. The kind of night that has something for the whole family.

✨ My honest take? Neither is better. They’re just built for different people.

Well… maybe not the nice things because I like the fun trips a little too much for that but the experiences? Those are non-negotiable. 🌊🎆

Breakfast on a balcony with the ocean as your backyard. Toes in the sand at a beach that doesn't feel real. Fireworks from the middle of the sea. This is the childhood I'm building for them and honestly? For me too. 😂

No apologies. Just memories. 🥂

And no I’m not saying party tickets are a must (but they kinda are.) I’m talking about early park closures and crowd patterns. Theres so many new options at Walt Disney World opening this summer (hello! Bluey, Muppets Rock n Roller coaster…) and Cool Kid Summer happenings that you don’t want to waste time and energy finding out your day has to end early or that what you want to do is closed. Being able to zig when the crowd zags, knowing where to beat the heat and avoid the rain. All important and that’s what I’m here for! CC

If you aren’t planning your August to October Walt Disney World trip around Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party… you’re doing it wrong. 🎃✨
And no, I’m not saying party tickets are a must (although… they kinda are 👀). I’m talking about understanding how those party nights completely change crowd patterns, park hours, and even your ride strategy.

This summer and fall at Walt Disney World are PACKED with new experiences. Bluey and Bingo are arriving at Animal Kingdom, Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away continues lighting up Magic Kingdom, Test Track has officially reopened at EPCOT, and the Muppets have taken over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. Add in all the Cool Kid Summer entertainment and limited-time offerings, and strategy matters more than ever. ✨
