Team Member Spotlight: Today, we are wishing Luke well as he begins an exciting new chapter with Kamloops Fire Rescue (KFR)!

Luke’s connection to Kamloops began when he came to the city to attend Thompson Rivers University TRU (TRU) and play with the WolfPack Baseball team. His journey since has taken him from BC Wildfire’s Kamloops Bighorns Unit Crew to firefighting in the oil and gas industry across Canada, and eventually back to Kamloops, where he joined the Kamloops Airport team as an Aircraft Rescue Firefighter (ARFF) in 2024.

Luke says his time at the airport reinforced the importance of accountability, reliability, professionalism and being a positive team player; values that he will carry with him into his new role. “To all the staff at YKA, thank you for making my time here so enjoyable, I wish everyone the best and excited to see the growth and development of the airport over the coming years!”

We are proud to see Luke continue his firefighting career right here in the community he calls home. Thank you for everything you’ve contributed to the YKA team, Luke. We wish you all the best at KFR!

Kamloops Airport has received $1.35 million through Transport Canada’s Airports Capital Assistance Program to modernize essential airfield electrical infrastructure.

The project will improve the reliability and resilience of airfield systems, supporting safe commercial aviation, emergency response, wildfire suppression and medevac operations for years to come.

YKA LINK is a new alliance working to grow air service at Kamloops Airport (YKA) and position our region as a central gateway to BC's interior.

The initiative brings together Kamloops Airport, Destination BC, the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association, Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Tourism Association, Tourism Kamloops, Tourism Sun Peaks, the City of Kamloops, and the Thompson-Nicola Regional District, all working toward the same goal: new and expanded air routes, and stronger regional connectivity.

For meeting and event planners, that translates directly into fewer barriers between your delegates and Kamloops. More air service options mean more flexibility when you're building a travel plan, and a stronger regional network means Kamloops keeps becoming easier to reach from more places.

We will keep you posted as new routes and connections come online. In the meantime, our team is here to help you plan around what's available today.

A huge thank you to our travellers, airport community, and everyone who stopped by the Kamloops Airport today to support Lemonade Day!

We loved seeing the community come together to help these young entrepreneurs learn about running a business, teaching them to save some, share some, and give some back. A portion of today’s proceeds will be donated to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

A special shout-out to Community Futures Kamloops & Area for making this fantastic community event possible and helping inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs!

We are thrilled to be a Sweet Spot location for this year’s Lemonade Day with Community Futures Thompson Country.

Lemonade Day is a fun, hands-on experience that gives young entrepreneurs the chance to learn about business, financial literacy, creativity, and leadership, all while running their very own lemonade stand!

We can’t wait to welcome the next generation of business leaders to , where they’ll set up shop, serve up some smiles, and get a taste of what it takes to turn an idea into a business!
