Calling commercial drone operators — and the people who need the problems they can solve.

We're bringing together operators, customers, manufacturers, dealers, software companies and technology providers from both sides of the border.

Why?

Because the commercial drone industry is moving beyond simply owning and flying drones.

The U.S. market has already gained valuable experience across agriculture, mapping, inspection, energy and public safety.

At the same time, Canada's commercial drone market is moving quickly, with new applications, businesses and opportunities continuing to emerge.

There is a lot the two markets can learn from each other.

Niagara sits right between them.

So we thought:

Why not bring the people actually doing the work together?

We want to hear from Canadian and U.S. operators who have built real businesses and completed real projects — not just about their successes, but about what it actually takes to deliver professional drone services at scale.

Setups. Fleet design. Trailers. Charging solutions. Staffing. Logistics. Operating costs. Large-project capability.

What works?

What doesn't?

Where are customers actually spending money?

And what new opportunities might emerge when people from two neighboring drone markets start talking to each other?

But operators are only one side of the equation.

We want the customers in the room, too.

Growers. Infrastructure companies. Utilities. Survey and mapping professionals. Public safety organizations. Industrial users — and others with real operational problems that drone technology may be able to solve.

Because for many commercial drone operators, the biggest thing missing isn't another drone.

It's the next project.

And for many customers, the challenge isn't finding another piece of technology.

It's finding the right solution — and the right people to deliver it.

Hard to ignore a picture like this.

When disease pressure shows up in corn, the question isn't always whether a fungicide application makes sense.

Sometimes the bigger question is:

Can you actually get the field sprayed when it matters?

Wet ground, applicator availability and a narrow application window can quickly turn an agronomic decision into a timing problem.

We took a closer look at Tar Spot, fungicide timing, low-volume drone application research, and what spray drone ownership could actually mean for Ontario growers.

What a great day at the Solar and Cover Crop Grazing Field Day in Arnprior and Kinburn!

I was very grateful for the opportunity to join such a knowledgeable and experienced group and learn more about how solar energy and agriculture can work together.

Seeing sheep grazing between the solar panels was a great example of a real win-win: the land continues to support agriculture, while grazing also provides a practical way to manage vegetation around the solar infrastructure.

One comment from today’s discussion especially stayed with me: let the professionals do what they do best.

Farmers understand livestock and the land. Solar professionals understand energy systems. Agronomists bring another layer of knowledge. When that expertise comes together, everyone benefits from a much stronger pool of knowledge and experience.

In the afternoon, we moved to a soybean field in Kinburn to look at cover-crop grazing. We saw a beautiful soybean crop, walked through the field operations, and had some very interesting conversations — including where drones might have a practical role in the future.

A lot to learn, and even more to think about.

It is bittersweet to see this post.

Tom, over the years we have known you as a man of faith, responsibility and grace — someone who kept his word, treated people fairly, and was never afraid to look ahead.

Years ago, when drone technology was still new to many in agriculture, you took the time to listen, understand, and give us a chance. Today, many of the things you believed could become part of agriculture have become a reality.

Looking back, your early trust and foresight mean even more to us.

As you follow God’s calling into this next chapter, we are sad to see you leave CFFO, but grateful for all you have done and excited for the road ahead of you.

May God guide you, protect you, and bless the work that lies ahead.
