Camp Pathfinder Camp Pathfinder, est. 1914 is an historic boys' summer camp in Algonquin Park, Ontario Canada. Summer sessions of 2- 3- and 7- weeks each July and August.

Boys ages 7 - 16 attend from across North America and around the world in order to have a rustic, tech-free summer experience. Outdoor education programs available each spring and autumn. Pathfinder has a stunning north woods setting, with a 1:2 counselor ratio, renowned canoe tripping and aquatic sports programs, and a century of traditions embraced by a huge alumni family. This past weekend marked 25 years of the George Liederhaus Memorial race around the horn and it was one for the books.

This was the largest GLM gathering yet! With the donations of 105 generous participants, we have collected $13 395.07 and counting. Funds this year directly benefit both the Algonquin Campership Fund and the Indigenous Campership Fund. Hosted at Camp Pathfinder every year, this weekend fosters deep connections to the people and the places around Algonquin Park that we've all come to love through our shared experiences whether that be as campers, staff, or visitors.

Thank you to Trip Pierson and Scott Forsyth for founding the ACF back in 2000, and to Trip and Jake Pierson for organizing the race every year. Big shout out to everyone who showed up to help carry on this tradition, which in turn gives kids the opportunity to love the park as much as we do. ❤️

Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we’d like to acknowledge that Camp Pathfinder lies in the unceded territory of the Algonquin Anishinaabeg people, the original inhabitants of this land. 🍁

We also honour all Indigenous communities, and remember the families who have suffered from Canada’s residential school system and that continue to live with this legacy.

Camp Pathfinder’s greatest tradition is canoe tripping. Canoes are a technology originally designed and passed down by Indigenous peoples long before our own practices. With every paddle stroke, we must remind ourselves of the privilege of this adopted knowledge that we transfer from generation to generation.

This past summer, our trips travelled through the territories of the Algonquin, Chippewa, Cree, Inuit, Innu, Mississauga, Naskapi, Nipissing, Odawa, Ojibwa, and Potawatomi peoples. We are grateful to travel these waters and lands, and are committed to doing so with respect, humility, and a willingness to keep learning.

The people make the place❤️

It’s been one week since the end of camp and we still can’t get over what an incredible summer it was. We already miss the chants and the laughs that echoed off the island. Thank you to all our staff who keep this place running, and to the wonderful campers for keeping it alive. Can’t wait to do it all over again next year!
