Here’s to you.. to people who don’t fully understand what “Harvest Time” really means.
Harvest is one of the most important aspects of farming and the worlds food production. Harvest is stressful. Harvest is unpredictable. Harvest is harvest.
The crops that we planted in the spring have been constantly checked, sprayed, and checked again. Now they have matured, it’s go time. That’s means that harvesting the crops comes before anything and everything. And yes, that means sacrifices.
We as farmers can only predict so much. We can’t predict the exact day that our crops will be ready, how they will yield, if we will get rained out, or how the day is going to go.
Some days harvest can run smooth but others its a constant up hill battle. This can entail, repairs on your equipment, crawling inside of the combine and hand picking the plugged crop out, fires, driving all over Alberta to find the part you need, not having the crew you need to take the crop off or basically anything else.
So please, be patient when you see the million dollar convoy driving down the highway!
Be aware of our life style, it’s not easy!
Be appreciative of the farmers and their families because this time of year they’re running on minimal sleep!
I am very thankful for the farming community and all their hard work!
Happy Harvest everyone! 🌾
