Meet our August Rider of the Month, Margaret!

Margaret is a McMaster student and U-Pass rider who learned how to ride a bike on this past summer! Margaret is also the organizer of the King William West Fest, a one-day street festival on King William Street (from James to Hughson), which is back for its second year this Saturday, September 5th, from 11am until late.

The festival is part of a pedestrian-only summer activation supported by the and . It brings together vendors, organizations, artists and residents for a day of community, connection and fun. It’s a fantastic opportunity to connect with those around you and especially a great chance for students to explore their community!

Margaret would love to see students cycle to King William West Fest and arrive sustainably 🚲🌱. Check out for more information about the event!

We’re teaming up with the Office of Community Engagement to lead a ride from McMaster to the Hamilton Public Library - Westdale Branch, on Thursday, September 10th at 12:30PM.

Did you know that as a student at McMaster, you are eligible for a Hamilton Public Library card? The Hamilton Public Library is an incredible resource and offers numerous FREE services you can take advantage of - using your library card! This may include computer access, printing, access to countless books, music, movies and so much more!

Come out for this back to school ride using your Hamilton Bike Share U-Pass (already included and paid for in undergraduate and graduate full-time tuition fees) to learn how to access the nearest HPL to McMaster - the Westdale Branch!

The 2026-2027 Mac U-Pass is now live!

The Mac U-Pass is a heavily discounted universal Bike Share pass available for full-time graduate and undergraduate students at McMaster, paid for via student fees. Swipe to learn how to renew your U-Pass if you are a returning full-time student or activate your U-Pass if you’re a first time user.

NEW RIDERS:
1. Visit hamiltonbikeshare.ca and select the U-Pass button.
2. Validate your MacID and complete the registration process.
3. Download the Social Bicycles app and sign in to your account.
4. Scan the QR code at the back of the bike using the app to get riding!

RETURNING RIDERS:
1. Visit app.socialbicycles.com and login to your account.
2. While still logged in, visit hamiltonbikeshare.ca and select the U-Pass button to validate your Mac ID.
3. After validating, you’ll be redirected back to your profile page and your student ID will be added to your bike share account. Click on the “Memberships” tab and select “Mac U-Pass” to resubscribe.
4. You’re good to go!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our annual Mural Ride this past Saturday!

This ride is always a staple and we love exploring some of the beautiful street and mural art here in . This year’s ride was extra special because our wonderful sponsors helped us celebrate the end of the ride with an activation station at our Discovery Drive Hub featuring free ice cream vouchers, swag and other goodies.

We are currently hiring for both a permanent Full-Time Bike Mechanic and a Temporary Full-Time Driver Rebalancer. If you’ve always wanted to join the team and help operate Hamilton’s year-round, not-for-profit public bike sharing system, this might be your chance!

🚐 Driver-Based Rebalancer🚐
You’ll redistribute and rebalance bikes throughout our service area to help position bikes for optimal use, complete in-field bike and hub maintenance, and assist with other field-based tasks. Applicants must have a valid G driver’s licence, a clean driver’s abstract, and confidence driving a service vehicle in an urban setting.

🔧 Bike Mechanic🔧
You’ll help keep our bike fleet safe and in great working condition by completing work orders, conducting safety testing, troubleshooting bikes, performing maintenance, and so much more!
