Tips to avoid disappointment when planning/booking a vacation:
I always recommend finding out few things before starting the booking process, to avoid disappointment:
1) find out if taking vacation is even possible for you. Numerous times I have sold a client on a wonderful resort, and it turned out the workplace would not even consider vacation time for the dates.
2) if vacation time is possible, find out the flight schedule before solidifying your dates off work. Some flights may have a late return flight causing you to need the additional day off.
3) do not dive into choosing flights and resorts, if you are not close to putting any money down, or commit to a trip. It is a waste of everyone's time, plus it is a sure way to be disappointed when the selected trip , 2-5 weeks later, is sold out, or the price has tripled. This is a sure way to feel sad.
4) not being able to commit to a budget, or expecting to pay 2002 prices, 20 years later. This is a very important question for many! As we have to cover daily living expenses- it is best if you can share what would be a comfortable vacation budget, and I will ensure I will highlight the best options out there your money can get you
5) make sure to purcase trip cancellation coverage! No one plans on needing to cancel their vacation but life happens and you would not want to loose all the money you spent. Same with trip interruption coverage for when the unexpected happens once you leave home. Suppliers are not always required to provide you with compensation for delays including extra nights of hotel or meals.
Various vacation destinations have 1 flight per week, others enjoy several options, and only very few and far in-between have a daily direct option.
Most popular high quality hotels, swim up rooms, ocean view suites or family suites tend to sell out quickly as well. Understanding the above will help you make the right decision.
