We’ve got some inspiring news this Friday morning! Our 2026 Ron Montgomery Community Service Award Winner has been selected. Please join us in congratulating Maddy Ghoneim, as we recognize her for her incredible efforts in our local community! ⭐️👏🏻⭐️

Maddy was nominated by her peers, who were inspired by her commitment to giving back. She volunteers weekly with the , a local food bank, and her community involvement doesn’t stop there. Maddy also volunteers with Links2Care, participates in the Coldest Night of the Year, helps set up Georgetown’s Light Up the Hills Christmas event, and has spent many years supporting local schools as a reading buddy and trip supervisor. Wow!

As part of this award, Maddy was invited to select an organization to receive a $2,500 donation from WGOC. Unsurprisingly, she chose the Georgetown Bread Basket!

The Georgetown Bread Basket has been providing food to the Georgetown community since 1996, and is run entirely by volunteers like Maddy. This means 100 percent of all donations go directly toward serving those who depend on the food bank. What a great place for this donation to find a home!

As an organization, we are proud to be home to someone like Maddy. It is our pleasure to recognize her and to help support her mission.

Winter is not quite over yet for most of us! Do you have an emergency kit in your vehicle?

Cold-weather breakdowns can be dangerous, especially if you’re stuck waiting for help in freezing temperatures. Always keep a winter emergency kit in your vehicle with these essentials:

✅ Warmth & Shelter: Blanket, extra clothing, gloves, hat, and hand warmers.

✅ Visibility & Safety: Flashlight with extra batteries, reflective vest, and road flares.

✅ Food & Water: Non-perishable food and bottled water (wrapped in a sock to prevent freezing).

✅ Tools & Survival Gear: Ice scraper, shovel, jumper cables, traction aid (like sand, salt or kitty litter), and a first aid kit.

✅ Power & Communication: Fully charged power bank.

✅ First Aid & Medicine: A standard kit plus 48 hours of dosage for any critical medications.

We’re overdue to celebrate a driver of the month! Congrats to Amer M!

Our nominations process is really ramping up! Each time we have better and more detailed nominations, and sometimes it’s hard to choose! We’re very proud to know our drivers are doing a great job everyday, but Amer really stood out amongst the crowd this time around. His dedication into and over the holiday season was unmatched!
