One of our larger projects of the season is officially underway!

Over the next couple of weeks, Great Lakes Logistics Transport Inc. will be coordinating the movement of 11 commercial units from the Ritchie Bros. Auction site in Nisku, Alberta, down to Nederland, Texas.

This project includes:
• 6 power-only dump trailer relocations
• 5 semi trucks

Projects like this don't happen by accident. From scheduling and carrier coordination to customs paperwork and delivery planning, there are a lot of moving pieces that need to come together to keep everything running smoothly.

We're excited to get this project underway and look forward to sharing updates as these units begin making their way south.

Busy week here at Great Lakes Logistics, with plenty more shipments still to come — but this one was too good not to share.

A client purchased five used Olympic Ice Resurfacers (Zambonis) from the Ritchie Bros auction site in Amaranth, Ontario, and they're all heading to Saint-Roch-de-l'Achigan, Quebec.

To get the job done efficiently, we sent one trailer to pick up three units for a full load, and a second trailer to grab the remaining two.

Of course, logistics likes to keep things interesting.

Four units loaded without issue, but the fifth had other plans. The machine was out of fuel, which meant we were sitting at 80% loaded and needed a solution. We kicked around a few options, including bringing in additional equipment to load it, but sometimes the simplest answer is the best one.

A quick bit of teamwork, a borrowed portable propane tank from home, and bingo — unit number five fired up, loaded, and was on its way.

Dispatch's official comment on the situation - the only time freight loading goes smoothly is if it's skidded - which this is not. lol

That's one of the things we enjoy most about this business. Every shipment has its own challenges, and a little thinking, teamwork, and experience can go a long way toward keeping freight moving.

Another shipment rolling for a long-time customer — great people to work with, and a pleasure to keep moving freight for them!

A special shout out to Sonja, the client coordinator on this file — always great communication, which makes everything run that much smoother.

This time we’re hauling a brand new 10ft wide tag trailer used for moving equipment behind a tractor. It was picked up at the factory in Waterford, Ontario, and is now on its way to a farm in St. Isidore, Ontario.

Even within the same province, proper coordination and timing still matter — especially with wider agricultural equipment that needs to be handled carefully from pickup to delivery.

Appreciate the continued trust on this one — always good to keep solid long-term customers moving.

Another shipment on the move for a long-time regular client we’ve worked with over the years!

This time we’re hauling a Handy Skid Steer grader attachment, picked up at the Ritchie Bros Auction site in Amaranth, Ontario, and it’s now on the way to Dorion, Ontario.

Smaller attachments like this might not grab the headlines like oversized loads, but they’re just as important to the job site. Getting the right tools in the right place at the right time is what keeps projects moving forward.

Another shipment on the move for a repeat client we’ve worked with in the past!

This time it’s a shrink-wrapped towel-folding machine, loaded up in Kent, Ohio, and now making the long trip west to Whistler, British Columbia.

One of the best parts about this industry is you truly never know what you’ll be shipping from one day to the next. One week it’s heavy equipment and containers, the next it’s specialized machinery like this heading across the continent. That variety is what keeps this job interesting — and honestly, what makes it so enjoyable.

Load #4 of 4 is officially on board — and the final piece of this multi-load project is moving!

This is another 40ft container, loaded at Ritchie Bros Auction site in Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Quebec, and this time it’s heading out to Saint John, New Brunswick.

With all four loads now completed, this project wraps up a solid series of coordinated moves — multiple pickups, consistent routing, and tight scheduling to keep everything aligned from start to finish.

Always satisfying to see a full project like this come together smoothly for a new client. Appreciate the trust on this one.

Looking ahead, get ready - we’re already gearing up for the next project — this one consists of 11 loads - moving 5 semi trucks and 6 trailers from another Ritchie Bros Auction site in Nisku, Alberta, all the way down to Texas.
