Should an office move happen in one window or in phases?

Start with what must remain operational until the last moment and what must work first at the new location. List departments, workstations, files, furniture and equipment, then mark the items that can move early, the items that need separate handling, and the items that should be retired instead of transported.

Confirm loading access, building hours, elevator rules, parking and who is responsible for disconnecting and reconnecting technology. A phased plan can reduce disruption, but only when labels, priorities and handoffs are clear.

What should you get from the building before choosing a condo mover?

Ask management for the elevator reservation window, loading-area rules, parking instructions, move-in or move-out hours, key or fob arrangements, and any protection or deposit requirements. Check both buildings; their rules may be different.

Then compare those fixed windows with the inventory, floor level, hallway route and furniture that may need disassembly. A clear estimate enquiry can be organized into three parts: date and route, inventory and access, then the work you want handled.

Our current quote form starts with the moving date and the locations you are moving from and to. Add the home or office size, stairs or elevators, parking or loading limits, storage areas, large or unusually heavy pieces, and any deadline at the destination. Then explain whether you need packing, unpacking or furniture work.

You do not need every detail solved before contacting us. Identify what is confirmed and what may still change so the follow-up can focus on the right questions.

Which changes should you report after you receive a moving estimate?

Tell the mover if the date, addresses, inventory, stairs or elevator access, parking, carrying distance, extra stops, packing responsibility or large items change. A small-looking change can affect the crew, truck, equipment or time required.

Do not save those details for moving morning. Keep one updated scope and ask the mover to confirm whether the plan needs to change. Pay particular attention to garages, sheds, storage rooms and furniture that may need disassembly.

A useful estimate stays tied to the move you are actually making, not the first version of it.

The lowest hourly rate is not always the lowest-cost move.

Here’s why.

One company might quote:

• A smaller crew
• One truck
• Minimal preparation
• A lower hourly rate

Another might recommend:

• A larger crew
• More truck capacity
• Additional protection
• More preparation before moving begins

The second company may look more expensive when you compare hourly rates.

But if the larger crew completes the move faster, avoids an extra trip, and protects the home properly from the beginning, the final cost can be very different from what the hourly rate suggests.

This is why I recommend comparing the whole moving plan — not just one number.

Ask:

How many movers are included?

How many trucks are planned?

How was the move sized?

What protection is included?

What happens if the move is larger than expected?

A moving estimate should do more than give you a rough number.

It should help answer a much more important question:

**What is actually required to complete your move properly?**

That means estimating things like:

• How much you’re moving
• How much truck space will be needed
• How many movers should be on the crew
• Whether one truck or multiple trucks are required
• How access at each location will affect the job
• Whether furniture needs disassembly or extra protection

If those things are underestimated, the move can take longer than expected, require extra trips, or need additional crew or truck capacity.

That’s why an estimate that looks cheaper on paper is not always the estimate that leads to the lowest final cost.
