Three days ago, we received a message from a single mother of four who was moving into a new home with very little furniture.

Like many families starting over, she was focused on creating a safe and stable environment for her children, but furnishing an empty home can feel overwhelming when you're rebuilding from scratch.

Over the last few days, thanks to the generosity of our customers and community, we have been able to make a great start.

Furniture donated through recent removal jobs for Sort and Simple Professional Organizers , Bonnie and Nicole, and Darcy has already found a new purpose in helping this family create a home.

Today, Evgenie, Dave and I had the privilege of unloading a trailer full of furniture and delivering it directly to the family. Seeing the relief and excitement as the home began to come together reminded us why we do this work.

To everyone who trusts Friend with a Truck with their moving, junk removal, and furniture removal needs—thank you. Every time you choose us, you're helping create opportunities like this one.

A special thank you to Kaytlyn and her team at Sort and Simple, Bonnie and Nicole, and Darcy for making this possible.

Community isn't just a place. It's people helping people.

🎉 WE HAVE A WINNER! 🎉

Thank you to everyone who entered our washer and dryer giveaway, shared the post, tagged friends and family, and took the time to reach out.

The response was overwhelming, and we were truly humbled by the stories that were shared with us. Reading about the challenges, resilience, and kindness within our community was a reminder of just how many people are working hard to support themselves and their families.

Today, we're excited to announce that Mary has been selected to receive the washer and dryer set along with FREE delivery from Friend with a Truck! 🚚🧺

We spoke with Mary, and she is incredibly excited and grateful to receive them. We can't wait to get them delivered and help make her day a little easier.

To everyone who entered: thank you. While we could only choose one recipient, your stories touched us, and this giveaway has inspired us to continue looking for ways to give back to our community.

Thank you, Edmonton, for your support of Friend with a Truck and for helping us spread a little kindness.

❤️ MAY COMMUNITY IMPACT ❤️

May was an incredible month for Friend with a Truck.

With the support of our customers and community partners, we were able to assist:

🏠 4 seniors transitioning from senior domestic violence shelters and difficult living situations

🏠 2 single mothers rebuilding their lives after leaving domestic violence shelters

🏠 2 newcomer families establishing homes and starting their new lives in Edmonton

♻️ Countless furniture and household items were donated and rehomed rather than ending up in a landfill

🤝 We were honoured to receive referrals from organizations including the Center for Newcomers, Giving 2 Charity, Rose City Professional Organizing and Sage Seniors Association and Sort and Simple Professional Organizers.

At Friend with a Truck, we believe moving is about more than furniture.

It's about helping people start their next chapter.

Every customer who books a move, junk removal, or furniture pickup helps make community support like this possible.

Thank you, Edmonton, for supporting local business and helping us give back.

Every item has a story.
Recently, we had the privilege of helping Aldrina downsize in preparation for her upcoming move. Aldrina reached out to Friend With a Truck after being referred by her niece, whose mother we had previously helped transition from her longtime family home into a seniors' condominium.
As we worked through the downsizing process, it became clear that many of the items still had plenty of life left in them. Rather than sending them to the landfill, we were able to help find new homes for much of what was no longer needed.
Furniture and household items were donated to seniors rebuilding their lives after fleeing domestic violence, newcomers who had recently been displaced by a fire, and a large dining room set found a new purpose in a local sober living house supporting people in recovery.
Moving and downsizing can be emotional and overwhelming, but it's always rewarding to see cherished items continue to serve others in our community.
Thank you, Aldrina, for trusting Friend With a Truck to be part of your journey.

We found a double boxspring for Penny.
Thank you

Good morning,
We are helping a senior transition out of a shelter tonight and into her new place. One item that we really could use is a double boxspring.
If you have one that you were meaning to move on from, we could pick it up from you this evening.
Please message me.
Thank you,
David

Community is built one act of kindness at a time. ❤️
We would like to send out a huge thank you to the Edmonton Newcomers for reaching out to us and connecting us with Jonas and his son. This family was recently displaced by a fire and sadly lost everything.
Today, because of people coming together, we were able to help make their new space feel a little more like home.
A big thank you as well to:
Christa from Rose City Professional Organizing
John at Giving 2 Charity for helping provide much-needed items.
Len and Shauna for donating the couch, dining set, and lamps.
Silvana, who paid us to remove her bedroom suite, which helped support this effort.
At Friend with a Truck, we work hard to make sure good furniture gets into the hands of families who truly need it whenever possible.
This was another great example of community supporting community. 💙

Another job that turned into something bigger.

Today started with a call from Shawn, who needed help clearing out a storage locker his parents no longer needed in St. Albert.
Straightforward removal job—but when we opened it up, it was clear there was some really solid furniture in there.
Now here’s where things lined up.
Just recently, we were contacted by Sage Seniors Association about a senior who was moving into a new place with nothing—starting completely fresh. We had already helped get her set up with a hydraulic bed and brand-new mattress thanks to Giving 2 Charity.
So instead of heading to the dump, Sean’s furniture went straight to someone who truly needed it.
We delivered everything today and she took it all. Absolutely loved it. You could tell it meant a lot.
This is exactly what we aim for: You call us for junk removal… and when possible, we redirect value back into the community.
Big thanks to:
Shawn, for trusting us with the removal request.
Sage Seniors Association, for connecting the need
Giving 2 Charity, for stepping up with essential items
And Dave for putting in the work today 💪
If you’ve got items to remove, we’ll handle it—and when the opportunity’s there, we’ll make sure it does some good too.

From removal… to a fresh start.
We were recently hired for a junk removal job in Edmonton, and part of that included a beautiful queen-size bedroom set, from Helen.
Instead of heading to the dump, we saw an opportunity.
So we did what we always try to do.
We delivered it, set it up, and gave it a second life.
This time, it went to Heather and just like that, something no longer needed became a fully set-up bedroom and a fresh start.
A big thank you to Helen for making that possible. Moments like this don’t happen without people like you.
This is the part of the job most people don’t see.
At Friend with a Truck, we’re out every day doing junk removal, moving, and transport but along the way, when there’s an opportunity, we redirect good items to people who truly need them.
It’s not every job but when it happens, it matters.
So if you’ve got items to clear out, we’ll take care of it.
And when we can, we’ll make sure something good comes from it.
Thank you

This is why we do what we do.
Last week, we had the opportunity to help a pregnant single mom of two, move into a new home—and we’re proud to say… we got it done.
From start to finish, this one meant a lot.
With the help of Mark, Dave, Evgenie, we were able to get her fully moved in and set up for a fresh start—but what really stood out was the support from the community. The messages, encouragement, and people stepping up… it didn’t go unnoticed.
This is the kind of work that reminds us what Friend with a Truck is really about.
Yes—we move families.
Yes—we handle junk removal.
Yes—we transport items across the city.
But when the opportunity comes to step in and make a real difference… we take it.
Because at the end of the day, it’s not just about the move—
it’s about showing up when it matters most.
This is what community looks like!
