We had a great day giving wagon rides yesterday at Bird's Eye Cove Farm! Thanks so much for having us, and thanks to all the lovely families who came out and enjoyed a beautiful Easter Sunday on the farm.

Time to own up, teamsters. When you take a one-ton animal, attach it to a second one-ton animal, and then hook the pair of them to a wagon or rattly farm ...

After all the wintery weather we've had, there is a lot of mud and manure to be scraped in Wes and Tony's paddock to get it back good and clean the way I like it. Tony has been most helpful in that, standing patiently while I fill the wheelbarrow, and then hauling it on the work sled back to the manure pile for me. I love it when I can train a horse and get some work done at the same time, and my body sure appreciates his help with the heavy jobs!

Getting this handsome guy all cleaned up and ready to see our friend Kenneth tomorrow. (When you have the best hair in the valley, you just gotta flaunt it!)

This is a cool photo taking by my good friend Heather Nelson two years ago of Wes & Tony trotting down the road. When two horses are really working well together as a team, this is what you see.

The more snow that falls, the prettier the pictures get! (Yes it helps to have such a handsome subject.)

Another 3" of snow on the ground this morning, so I put Tony on the plow by himself to clear the drive. The innate work ethic of draft horses never ceases to amaze me. I have no idea quite how, but Tony clearly understands when we have a Job to do, versus when we are just driving around for the sake of driving around. To just drive around, he still feels at times like a green (inexperienced) horse, and at times even seems to go looking for trouble. But when we have a Job to do, he shows up 110%, is spot-on his game, and does exactly what I need like he's done it every day of his life. It is truly magical to witness.
