We made 8 excellent benches for the community!

A huge thank you to The New Old Time Chautauqua, to Dylan and Crispin and all the other locals who showed up with their tools, expertise, time, and muscles to make these benches real. And another huge thank you to Antoine, John, Angus, and Dave for their generous donations of wood.

We'll be putting the finishing touches on the benches over this coming week, and then you'll start to see them out in the community! 🦀♥️

On Thursday July 30th (tomorrow), Claude the Van will be taking over for the Scuttlebus while our soon to be newest driver takes their road test!

The bus did not make it out on the road this morning, and we just learned this now.

We apologize to those who have been waiting for a ride. We are trying to get our afternoon driver on asap. Service will resume by 1:17pm at the latest.

Everyone on this island is aware of a small fleet of red vehicles that serve this island, but you may not know that there is a second, secretive armada of only-slightly-less-famously crimson conveyances, manned by an utterly fearless and dedicated cadre of highly skilled individuals, whose service to our community is second to none, and they are- the Denman Island Volunteer Fire Department.

All jokes aside- it is impossible to overstate the importance of the service they provide to this community, and we look forward to seeing many of you tomorrow in the line for a delicious pancake breakfast in support and recognition of their many tireless efforts.

If you'd like to help us cut down on the traffic on Denman Road, please consider catching the Scuttlebus to the Firehall, our first run arrives there at 9:25am, the next at 11am, and then finally at 12:22pm, just in time to roll you home from the festivities!

It has come to our attention that there were a couple errors in our printed schedules🦀🎺(When will they make an emojis for an embarrassed crab?)

1. On the 6th run the Scuttlebus stops at Glen Ghorm at 4:23pm (Not 4:43pm)
2. The #10 Courtenay bus has different schedules on Saturday and Sunday.

The schedules have been updated on our website. You can print them out, or you can make a note of it on your schedule at home.

Thanks to the folks with the keen eyes who help us catch these mistakes!
