Subject: Notice to Airport Users – Increased Activity at Debert Airport
To whom it may concern,
The Municipality of Colchester is advising all users of the Debert Airport of increased activity on site.
From May 1 to October 31, 2026, the airport will support seasonal wildfire management operations led by Forest Protection Limited, based out of the hangar at 266 Ventura Drive. This will result in increased aircraft movements, fueling activity, radio communications, and extended operating hours.
All users are asked to:
• Exercise increased caution when operating on the airfield
• Be aware that fire protection aircraft have priority use of the runways during active wildfire response
• Monitor radio communications closely for traffic updates
• Note that a NOTAM will be in effect requiring Prior Permission Required (PPR) for all aircraft, except fire protection operations: “PPR EXC FIRE PROTECTION ACFT”
• Follow all posted signage and restricted access areas
• Off-road vehicle use on runways is strictly prohibited, unless part of approved maintenance and pre-cleared through the Truro Flying Club front desk
Regular training exercises will occur weekly (typically Tuesdays beginning at noon for 2–3 hours). During these times, expect increased activity and possible temporary runway access limitations. Additional adjustments to airfield operations may occur as needed and will be communicated where possible.
Tony Adey has been engaged to provide on-site municipal oversight during periods of increased activity. When on site, he is authorized to act on behalf of the Municipality in operational matters. Contact: [email protected] | (902) 599-3795
We appreciate your cooperation as we support these essential operations and maintain safe, efficient use of the airport.
