I’m going to Iceland in July.

I will be spending two nights before, and after in Reykjavík and doing a seminar at sea with Celebrity Cruises.

I’ve planned trips to Iceland, but this will be my first time experiencing the country properly. I’m pretty excited.

I’m alive! I’m still feeling a little bit rough, but I made it back to the resort today and enjoyed a lovely meal with my group. This is definitely a vacation that I won’t forget. I’m thankful for the travel insurance because otherwise I would be on the hook for over US$15,000 of medical care.

ETA: I’m going to be able to leave the hospital this afternoon.

I am a cautionary tale as to why you need travel insurance.

I’m in PVR for FAM with Melia Puerto Vallarta.

I spent the weekend in Mexico City living my best life, but the street tacos and elotes caught up to me.

Shortly after I checked into the resort, I became seriously ill and had to call the resort doctor. I was on the phone with travel insurance when the doctor arrived. I was even too unwell to give them my policy number, so I paid out-of-pocket at the hotel and will get reimbursed. The staff at the resort were amazing and have continued to check on me while I’m in the hospital.

My condition deteriorated and an ambulance took me to the hospital around 10 or 11 PM last night. I’m probably going to be in the hospital until tomorrow morning at earliest. I have E. coli and Roto virus. I don’t think I have ever been this sick in my life.

I’ve been in touch with my insurance company and they are coordinating with the hospital so that they can do direct billing.
