👇One of the most epic winter experiences in my opinion:) More info on it:
📍Lac Saint-Jean
Classic 32 km crossing across the width of the lake 🎿

Where to park and leave your cars 🚗
* Parc national de la Pointe-Taillon welcome center
* Roberval Marina

For ice conditions, two helpful Facebook groups:
* Pêche sur glace Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean
* Camping hiver Saguenay

Navigation 🧭
Save a GPS point on your watch (or GPS) where you leave a car at the finish. When you set off from the other side of the lake, select that saved point under “Navigation” on your Garmin and choose “Go To” Bring compasses as a backup! There’s also cell service the whole way across

For a speed reference, we went between 3.5 and 5.5 km/h at a relaxed pace, so it’s very doable in 2 days (Many people do it in 3 if they start late on day 1 and finish early on day 3)

Gear rentals:
• has everything you need for winter camping in Montreal
• has everything you need for skis and boots in Saguenay

Watch out for “hot spots” on the lake where the ice is thinner or doesn’t freeze. Keep an eye on river mouths on the map 🗺️

Don’t forget the key to the car parked at the finish 🔑 ice screws to anchor your tent ⛺️ and a brush to clear frost off your gear!

Hope this helps a few of you make the crossing 🙂

🥾Widely considered one of the most popular sunrise hikes in Europe, this spot is the Stairway to Heaven on the PR1, Vereda do Areeiro trail in Madeira

More info on the hike👇

✨Save✨this post for future reference

📏To get to it is about 1.5 km one-way (3 km round-trip) and takes around 1 hours car to car depending on your pace

🚗For parking: leave your car at the lower car park near Pico do Areeiro, it’s half price, to the upper one and keep in mind it fills up fast especially for sunrise starts
