🔧 Cummins Engine Replacement – Freightliner M2
Here’s a full look at one of our most recent top-to-bottom rebuilds at Coastal Commercial Repairs!
1️⃣ Arrival & Diagnosis
The Freightliner M2 rolled into the shop after signs of major engine failure. Our diagnostics confirmed a full engine replacement was required.
2️⃣ Disassembly Begins
We popped the hood and got to work removing the front accessories, coolant lines, and prepping the truck for full teardown.
3️⃣ Engine Removal Prep
With the cab supported and components out of the way, our team started disconnecting wiring harnesses, exhaust, and mounts.
4️⃣ Out with the Old
The original Cummins engine was fully removed, and the workspace was cleared to prepare for installation. The replacement engine is staged and ready to go.
5️⃣ Reinstallation Underway
With the new engine lifted into place, we began securing it to the frame, aligning mounts, and reconnecting key systems.
6️⃣ Systems Hookup
The front-end accessories, turbo, fan, electrical harnesses, and fuel systems were carefully reconnected and tested for proper alignment.
7️⃣ Front End Assembly
Once the engine install was complete, we reattached the air intake, radiator supports, hoses, and cleaned up connections.
8️⃣ Final Touches
With the bumper and grille reinstalled, the truck was topped off with fluids, inspected, and test-run to ensure everything ran smoothly.
