Plitvice Lakes… one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been

I visited Plitvice Lakes National Park back in 2013, and it’s still one of those places that’s stuck with me.

Waterfalls everywhere.
Crystal-clear lakes.
Wooden boardwalks winding right over the water.

It honestly felt like walking through something unreal.

What makes it so special is how untouched it feels.

Walking between lakes
Standing beside cascading waterfalls
Watching the water shift from deep blue to bright turquoise

It’s one of Croatia’s most iconic natural sites—and for good reason.

💡 If you go:
Arrive early (it gets busy)
Take your time walking the trails
And don’t rush through it. This is one place you want to slow down

Looking back, this was easily one of the highlights of my trip to Croatia.

If Croatia is on your list, this is an absolute must.

I had dreamt of visiting Paros for over 10 years and it ended up being my favourite island in Greece.

It had such a relaxed, authentic feel with the quintessential Greece vibe I really loved.

I honestly didn’t want to leave and someday I plan to return spending more time on Paros, as well as ferry over to Antiparos and Naxos.

Greece has a way of making you want to immediately plan your next trip back before you’ve even left.

Europe with kids… is actually one of my favourite ways to travel

A lot of people assume Europe is better suited for adults, but some of the best family trips I’ve planned (and taken myself) have been in Europe.

The key is choosing destinations that balance:
✨ Walkability
✨ Culture
✨ Scenery
✨ Food
✨ And experiences kids actually enjoy

Some of my favourite family-friendly destinations in Europe include:

🇫🇷 France – especially Paris when balanced properly with parks, neighbourhoods, slower pacing, and even Disney!

🇩🇰 Denmark – bike-friendly, relaxed, clean, and incredibly easy with kids

🇮🇹 Italy – pizza, gelato, beaches, trains, and family-focused fun everywhere

🇭🇷 Croatia – beautiful coastline, island hopping, and easy outdoor adventure

🇸🇮 Slovenia – one of Europe’s most underrated family destinations with lakes, mountains, caves, and very manageable travel distances

🇦🇱 Albania – affordable, stunning beaches, and a much more relaxed feel than many Mediterranean destinations

🇨🇭 Switzerland – incredible trains, alpine scenery, lakes, fantastic food, and storybook villages that feel straight out of a movie

🇧🇪 Belgium – compact, easy to navigate, beautiful old towns, waffles, chocolate, and easy train connections

🇳🇱 Netherlands – extremely family-friendly with biking culture, canals, parks, great family friendly food, and easy transportation

🇦🇹 Austria – storybook villages, mountains, lakes, and incredible rail travel

🇮🇪 Ireland – small villages, sheep everywhere, cozy pubs, petting farms, incredible coastal scenery, hearty comfort food, and unique experiences

🇮🇸 Iceland – waterfalls, horses, glaciers, hot springs, hot dogs, and nonstop adventure

💡 The biggest mistake I see? Trying to move too fast.

Europe with kids works best when:
👉 You slow down
👉 Stay longer in fewer places
👉 And build in experiences everyone genuinely enjoys

Exposing kids to different cultures, foods, languages, and ways of life is one of the most valuable experiences you can give them.

It’s a huge reason why I love traveling with my own son so much.

Rhodes was our second stop on our Mediterranean Virgin Voyages cruise and I really liked the vibe here.

The Old Town is a massive walled medieval city filled with narrow stone streets, little shops, hidden corners, and cats absolutely everywhere.

It felt a lot more relaxed and less polished than some of the other Greek islands.

The food was SO good and surprisingly cheap. We found amazing an little spot for gyros and drinks without spending much at all.

Copenhagen is doing something really interesting for travellers

The city recently launched CopenPay - an initiative that rewards visitors for making more sustainable choices while traveling like:

🚲 Riding bikes instead of taxis
🚆 Using public transit
🌿 Participating in eco-friendly activities

…and being rewarded with perks and experiences throughout the city.

Honestly? It feels very Copenhagen.

This is a city already known for:
✨ Design
✨ Walkability
✨ Sustainability
✨ Incredible food and café culture

And now they’re encouraging travellers to experience it in a more thoughtful, local way.

What I love most about Copenhagen is how easy it is to enjoy slowly:

Walking colourful waterfronts
Exploring neighbourhood cafés
Biking through the city
Spending long evenings along the canals
It’s clean, relaxed, stylish, and incredibly easy to navigate.

Northern Europe continues to appeal to travellers looking for experiences that feel both modern and meaningful, and Copenhagen is such a perfect example of that.

Santorini was our first stop on our Virgin Voyages cruise 🇬🇷

When we arrived, we met our private transfer and headed straight to Oia. This is the stunning cliffside town Santorini is so famous for.

It really is just as beautiful as the photos.

The views were spectacular, the whitewashed buildings were stunning, and those iconic blue church domes truly do feel timeless.

That said… it was also very busy and touristy, and often difficult to even walk through the streets, which honestly made this my least favourite stop of the cruise.

But even with the crowds, I’m still incredibly grateful to have experienced it in person because it really is one of those places that feels surreal when you finally see it for yourself.
