Gateway to Where the Arctic Begins — Day 3

For their final day, the group explored more of Cochrane, starting at the Cochrane Polar Bear Habitat, where they learned about polar bears and the important work being done right here in our community.

Some of the group members also visited the Tim Horton Museum, discovering the story of the Cochrane-born hockey legend and the local roots behind one of Canada’s most recognized names.

A wonderful way to wrap up their journey after experiencing the Polar Bear Express and Ontario’s unique coastal rail experience to Moosonee and Moose Factory.

The group experienced the North with a river tour to the James Bay a visit to the Rail Car Museum, and cultural displays at Northern College.

A day filled with history, culture, connection and discovery.

What an exciting milestone for Tourism Cochrane and Northern Ontario!

Tourism Cochrane is thrilled to officially welcome Wells Gray Tours Ltd. from Western Canada as the first tour group to experience Where the Arctic Begins!

After travelling across Ontario, the group arrived in Cochrane and boarded the Polar Bear Express for an unforgettable journey north to Moosonee and Moose Factory, experiencing the communities, culture, people and landscapes that make the James Bay region so incredibly special.

Seeing our tour group hop aboard the train is a proud moment and an exciting step forward for tourism in our region.
