ARRA

In 1992, ARRA was initiated and incorporated as a legally constituted Society because there was a perceived need for an appropriate organization to represent Arbutus Ridge owners in situations where others (such as the developer or Strata Council) were not empowered or well-positioned to pursue the best interests of Arbutus Ridge homeowners.

ARRA represents all Arbutus Ridge residential owners. Strata Council deals with outside agencies as they relate to common property while ARRA’s role is to deal more broadly with external agencies and organizations with responsibilities that impact on the daily lives of property owners collectively, e.g. maintenance of adjacent and nearby roadways; tanker and freighter traffic in the Satellite Channel; provision of public utilities; availability and quality of public transit options; availability of community health services; regional development with potential impact on air or water quality and safety, and so forth.

The owners, Strata Plan 1601, maintain an annual corporate membership in ARRA. This provides ARRA with a source of predictable funding enabling independent operations. Strata Council annually appoints a Councillor to act as liaison between the ARRA Board of Directors and Council in order to enhance communications between the two organizations.

ARRA Directors share responsibility for various areas of interest to owners and report to owners through a variety of means such as Ridge Talk, this website and at the ARRA Annual General Meeting, which takes place in September.
