Certified, trained and ready to protect the network.

The CPKC de México Risk Mitigation K9 team is back from Amarillo, Texas, where all six canine teams renewed their fentanyl certifications and completed hands-on training through the 2026 National Narcotic Detector Dog Association conference.

For more than two decades, these K9 teams, made up of German Shepherds or Belgian Malinois and their handlers, have supported our operations in Mexico and help protect our people, equipment and network.

Thank you, CPKC de México K9 unit, for the important work you do every day!

Mehwish Rahman, Director Geotechnical Engineering, loves how her job provides constant challenges. She loves what she does and embodies the spirit of a true railroader: one that demands grit and a go-getter attitude.

Working alongside industry experts and forward-thinking leaders, Mehwish knows her work contributes to something greater. Her work directly impacts the safety of others, and she seizes every opportunity to make a difference. Railroading has taught her that she can achieve anything. As she says, "If there is a will, there is a way."

To enhance safety for our teams, infrastructure and communities, Mehwish spearheaded CPKC’s first-of-its-kind, AI-powered Waterbody Hazard Monitoring System that has already proactively identified potential water-related risks for examination and safety action.

This commitment to excellence earned Mehwish her place as a 2026 CEO Awards for Excellence winner for her outstanding innovation and leadership.

Rides aboard The Little General mini train and the display of one of our special livery Tier 4 locomotives highlighted Railroad Day in Franklin Park, Ill., this weekend!

CPKC volunteers welcomed families aboard The Little General on Saturday in the Chicago suburbs, with KCS 1776 — one of five new units honoring America’s 250th birthday — on display nearby.

Along the way, children received a simple reminder: tracks are for trains only.

Thank you to our volunteers for helping make the day memorable for the Franklin Park community.

The National Railway Historical Society and Railway Age magazine selected Canadian Pacific’s Empress 2816 steam locomotive and CPKC’s Final Spike Anniversary Steam Tour as recipient of the 2026 Outstanding Railroad Historic Preservation Award.

We were honoured to be presented this award earlier this month, a special recognition for the men and women who invested so much to make the record-setting, three-nation Final Spike Steam Tour a reality. Relive the nearly 10,000 mile tour from Calgary to Mexico City and back by watching our short film Pulse of the Continent, now available on our YouTube channel.
