Celebrating three decades of railroading! 👏

Every day, Ana Laura Salazar Tello brings her limitless passion to her work supporting the success of our intermodal supply chain.

“Over the past 30 years, I have seen firsthand how rail transportation drives economic growth and creates opportunities for businesses and people,” said Ana, who started with Grupo TMM in 1996, launching a career that would continue as part of KCSM and today CPKC de Mexico. “Being a railroader means contributing to that impact every day, and that is something I am very proud of.”

So much has changed over Ana’s time with the railway, but one thing remains the same: her dedication to excellence.

“What makes me most proud is having witnessed and contributed to the growth and transformation of the railroad industry in Mexico. I have been fortunate to be part of major milestones that helped develop intermodal transportation from its early stages into the successful network we have today,” said Ana.

Thanks Ana, for everything you do; we are honoured to be railroading with you!

A routine Sunday morning turned into a life-changing moment for Jeffrey Grasser, Supervisor Track Inspection.

While working at Lambton Park Yard in Edmonton, Jeff noticed a suspicious vehicle on the tracks and alerted CPKC Police. When Constable Lee MacCrae came under attack while responding to the call, Jeff didn't hesitate. He left the safety of his hi-rail vehicle, rushed to the officer's aid and helped stop the assault.

Jeff's courage and quick thinking helped Lee regain control of the situation and safely apprehend the suspect.

For his bravery and selfless actions, Jeff received a CEO Award of Excellence as a Community Hero.

Congratulations, Jeff, and thank you for demonstrating the values that make a difference both on and off the railway.

Last weekend, CPKC proudly hosted our eighth annual Spin for a Veteran event, raising a record $780,000 for organizations that provide housing for homeless veterans. Spinners in Calgary, Kansas City and Monterrey cycled impressive 10,000 km or 6,213 miles.

Since 2017, the event has raised nearly $4.5 million. Thank you to all our participants!

Welcome to CPKC’s Superior Tie & Timber (ST&T), the railroad tie treatment facility responsible for most of the treated railroad crossties that, quite literally, support the safe and efficient movement of our trains across Canada, the U.S. and Mexico.

Located in Vivian, La., near Shreveport, the plant – unique among Class I railways - originally supplied ties to Kansas City Southern. Since 2023, investment in several upgrades has allowed ST&T to substantially increase production to meet the demand from CPKC’s North American network.

Thank you to these skilled railroaders for their dedication to the quality treatment of this key railroad infrastructure component.

A new Calgary Flames season means more Goals for Kids! 🔥

For every Flames goal scored at home during the regular season, CPKC donates $500 to KidSport Calgary, helping more local kids get in the game.

Since 2013, Goals for Kids has contributed more than $529,000 to KidSport Calgary and helped raise over $816,000 overall.

Here's to plenty of goals this season, both on the scoreboard and in our communities!

Every year, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation offers us an opportunity to reflect on the legacy residential schools have had in Canada.

We proudly support the Orange Shirt Society, and our locomotive with its distinctive orange paint and the Orange Shirt Society logo continues to operate across our network raising awareness and inspiring discussion. Our Training Design & Development team created a 3D model of this locomotive as an added opportunity for reflection on this important day.

Every summer and fall, local terminals across our network host Family Day appreciation events where our teams come together to celebrate our railroaders and the families who support them.

This month, our Calgary railroaders spent the day at Heritage Park while in Kansas City our railroaders enjoyed Worlds of Fun. Fun, food, family and fellowship. That is what Family Day events are all about.

Thank you to all who joined us and to the volunteers who help make our family days happen.

A shortcut across the tracks could cost you everything.

Walking along or across railway tracks to save a few minutes is one of the leading causes of rail-related injuries. In the U.S. FRA data shows that crossing collisions and pedestrian trespassing account for more than 95% of all railroad fatalities. (source: Operation Lifesaver Inc.)

Every one of these incidents is preventable.

Tracks, yards and train bridges are private property. Trains can appear faster and quieter than you’d expect from either direction.

There is no shortcut worth that risk.

Take the long way and get home safe.

Railway tracks aren't a trail or a shortcut. They're private property and walking too close is dangerous and it’s trespassing.

As we wrap up Rail Safety Week, remember: the only safe place near the tracks is far away from them.
