Lately there have been a rash of late 90's early 2000"s GM built vehicles being stolen. Contrary to popular belief, these cars and trucks are NOT equipped with chip keys. All the equipment required to start these vehicles is contained within the vehicle itself.
It only takes three VERY common tools and some knowledge to take one of these in 60 seconds or less.
If you, or ANYONE you know has one of these generation of vehicles, PLEASE advise them to go to AMAZON or a local parts store and purchase a steering wheel lock like the one in this photo. They cost $40 and up and they work. Thieves move on to easier targets as soon as they see these since they can't be steered and they are VERY difficult to remove. If your car is equipped with an aftermarket alarm system make sure you use it and the best ones of these to have are "2 way" so your remote or phone is notified if someone is messing with your baby.
