A challenging day with their website down and terminals clogged with drivers trying to pick up containers that CN terminal operators are unable to verify the availability of them. We will be working to eliminate any and all storage charges caused by the disruption.

Without a deal since March 30th, the strike threat at BC ports looms real and could happen as early as June 24th https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/vancouver-port-cargo-loaders-strike-1.6874169 The Port of Vancouver was rated 368th out of 370 global ports by the World Bank. Hopefully this will play into talks and efficiency can be targeted, and improved, with performance based rewards rather than just shoveling cash at the unions.

More than 7,000 terminal cargo loaders at British Columbia's ports have voted overwhelmingly in support of strike action against local maritime employers, although both sides are still negotiating to avoid such an outcome.

In arguably the biggest test of the new NAFTA, Canada and Mexico have defeated the U.S. in a major dispute involving automobiles and calculating the origin of parts. It's seen as an early litmus test of the new trade pact.

The freight bubble appears to finally be bursting. Daily calls and lots of spam from carriers and freight companies looking for loads. A downturn combined with excess container inventory and space that was implemented to satiate the pandemic desire for material objects has created a perfect storm as demand has cratered amid higher interest rates

The cost of ocean freight from China bound for the U.S. West Coast has plunged year over year as demand falls more rapidly than logistics managers forecast.

Guangzhou and Hebei under lockdown again. Stoking fears of another economic slowdown and a 5% slide in oil prices. Even though China has less than 27,000 cases nationally their hard line response has many worried that further and larger lockdowns could be on the horizon.

"The lockdown comes as Guangzhou scrambles to contain its worst Covid outbreak in three years. Guangzhou reported 8,181 cases on Sunday, bringing its total number of infection to over 80,000 since October 22"

China has locked down a major transportation hub in the south, as the country grapples with its largest nationwide Covid outbreak since April.
