There’s something so grounding about being by the water.

Spent yesterday morning wandering through Fish Creek Provincial Park here in Calgary, taking in the serene views, doing a little bird watching (spotted a Greater Yellowlegs wading along the shore!), and just enjoying the peaceful rhythm of the river.

If you’re visiting Calgary and looking for an escape into nature right within the city limits, Fish Creek is an absolute must-visit.

Miles of scenic trails, peaceful riverbanks, and incredible local wildlife. It's the perfect spot to slow down and reconnect.

Have you explored Fish Creek yet, or do you have a favorite hidden nature spot in Calgary? Let me know below!

Driving through Southern Alberta into BC along Highway 3? You have to pull over at Frank Slide in Crowsnest Pass.

On April 29, 1903, disaster struck in just 100 seconds. Over 110 million tonnes of limestone collapsed off Turtle Mountain, burying part of the coal mining town of Frank under a field of boulders.

An estimated 90 people lost their lives that morning; and only 18 bodies were ever recovered.

17 miners trapped inside the coal mine managed to dig their own way through 6 metres of coal to safety!

Today, Highway 3 cuts directly through the heart of the rockslide. The Frank Slide Interpretive Centre sits right on the edge of the debris field where you can walk the 1.5 km trail straight through the giant rocks and take in the sheer scale of Canada’s deadliest rockslide.

It’s an incredible, humbling piece of history you can’t miss on a Rocky Mountain road trip.

It's international owl awareness day, and what better way then to share a short video of some of the owls I've seen over the years!

If you love the music and vintage elegance of Bridgerton, The Noble Tea House is an absolute dream! Found inside a century-old Victorian home, this spot serves up afternoon tea surrounded by antique charm, an Alice in Wonderland twist, and stunning fine china.

We spent two hours here celebrating my mom's birthday, and it was such a special experience! The food was amazing, and the overall feel was so good.

Beyond the magical vibes, it’s a social enterprise supporting The Narrow Road Home to empower women in recovery. Every cup poured truly makes a difference.

An unforgettable nostalgic day trip! Make the trip half an hour out of Calgary.

I've finally started to set up a bird haven in my little yard. Given where I live, its hard to attract more than house sparrows in.

Well that finally changed! I put good quality sunflowers chips in my feeder. Today I woke up to loud but active Common Grackles! Then the house sparrows came into the feeder. Yeah! Success!

Now for the bird bath. This is a great resource to attract birds, for baths or drinking water. However I haven't set it up correctly. Moving water attracts them. As does having something to perch or wade in the water (they dont always have depth perception). So I'm going to get a solar fountain panel and some rocks to build something secure. Stay tuned for that!

But in the meantime, do you have anything for the birds in your yard? Share below on what you do to attract them in!

Nothing makes my heart happier than sharing a passion for birding and watching it change how someone experiences the world around them!

I recently received this sweet message from my friend, and it completely made my day:

"I just wanted to say thank you for the introduction to birding. Honestly, it’s been a nice little extra thing every time I go on walks, hikes, or driving. It just makes you more present and notice more... I really appreciate you sharing that hobby with me. It’s been awesome to learn about, and I’m excited for when the leaves are no longer on the trees and I can see more birds!"

That right there is the magic of birding. It grounds you, makes you present, and turns every walk, hike, or everyday drive into an adventure. Whether you're exploring your own backyard or traveling across the globe, taking a moment to look up and listen completely changes your perspective.

Have you tried birding while traveling or on your daily walks yet? Let me know in the comments!

Travel is all about exploring the world, but sometimes the best destination is the one that forces you to slow down and completely reset.

I checked into for a much-needed afternoon of contrast therapy. I’m always on the move, so being able to book a private suite with my own cedar sauna and crisp cold plunge was amazing.

Stepping out of your comfort zone and into that ice-cold water forces you to be entirely present. Combined with the deep heat of the sauna, it completely resets your nervous system, releases tension, and leaves you feeling entirely recharged from the inside out.

If you are traveling through the Okanagan or just looking for a sign to prioritize your physical and mental well-being, I highly recommend booking a private session here. Your body and mind will thank you!

Be smart. I get it, that seeing a bear (or two) is an amazing thing to see. But for the love of God do not pullover on the side of a major highway to do so.
