Allow us to reintroduce ourselves

In the late 1950s, Inuit communities sought greater economic stability and established cooperatives across Nunavik. What was then simple local retail stores has grown to include a network of hotels, restaurants, gas stations and other essentiel services.

As these cooperatives grew, they recognized the need for centralized support and services based in southern Québec. This led to the creation of Ilagiisaq in 1967, with a mission to support and deliver services to the 14 cooperatives of Nunavik. FCNQ–Ilagiisaq was thus formed through the shared determination and vision of these cooperatives in Nunavik.

Built on the collective wisdom and expertise of these cooperatives, Ilagiisaq now brings together over 1,200 employees across the coop network and its 9 subsidiaries.

We thank Desjardins for selecting Ilagiisaq as a feature on the power and strength of the cooperative model.

Happy 59th birthday Ilagiisaq!

Bonne 59e anniversaire Ilagiisaq!

Thank you to Ginette Lavack, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Indigenous Services, for your remarks and for helping mark this important milestone.
Today’s announcement reflects more than just an expansion—it represents continued investment in our communities and a shared commitment to growth and collaboration.

The warehouse of the Fédération des coopératives du Nouveau-Québec (FCNQ) has reached an important milestone with a major expansion!

The new facilities will better meet the growing needs of Inuit communities in Nunavik. The expanded space will also help address more effectively the logistical challenges related to supplying essential goods and food in Northern Quebec.
