✈️🌴 I ABSOLUTELY LOVE BEING A TRAVEL ADVISOR... BUT SOMETIMES YOU JUST HAVE TO LAUGH! 😂

I genuinely LOVE this career! I love travelling, I love working with people, I have AMAZING clients, and there's nothing better than helping make someone's travel dreams come true! ❤️

BUT... I have to share one request I've received. 😂

I'm hoping it's a once-in-a-career experience... but you never know! 🤣

I received a VERY long list of vacation requirements from someone I've never even met.

And when I say long... I mean LONG!

Some of the requirements included...

🍽️ The food MUST be amazing because they're a foodie.

🌊 The ocean MUST be calm, with absolutely NO undertow.

🛏️ The beds MUST be comfortable.

❄️ The air conditioning MUST work perfectly.

🎶 Great entertainment... but nothing too loud.

🏖️ A beautiful beach with perfect swimming conditions.

And the list went on... and on... and ON! 😂

And then came the grand finale...

"Oh, and my budget is tight." 💀🤣

Now, there's absolutely NOTHING wrong with having a budget! I love finding my clients great vacations at great prices!

But I did have a little chuckle because apparently I needed to find five-star luxury on a budget AND negotiate a deal with Mother Nature! 🤣🌊

I'm a travel advisor, not a magician! Although some days I feel like I need a magic wand! 🪄😂

I can research, compare, recommend and do everything possible to find the perfect fit, but I can't guarantee the ocean won't have waves or that a mattress will feel like sleeping on a cloud!

I LOVE a challenge, and I always want my clients to have the best vacation possible.

But sometimes we have to prioritize our wish lists... especially when we're working with a tight budget! ❤️

✈️🌴 LET'S TALK RESEARCH FEES...

Did you know that when you book a vacation package through me, my commission is already included in the price? Nothing extra for you! We LOVE that! 🙌

But here's something people might not realize...

All those quotes, emails, changing dates, comparing resorts, checking flights and finding the best options take TIME! And I genuinely LOVE doing it! ❤️

HOWEVER... 🤣

Remember my post about the smaller Caribbean islands? I think I mentioned eight or more.

Now imagine getting a request to quote ALL of those islands... PLUS Mexico, Dominican Republic, a cruise... and hey, let's throw Europe in there too!

You know... just to compare some options! 😂

Are we planning a vacation or a world tour?! 🌎🤣

THAT is when a research fee may come into play!

Some requests require HOURS of research, and since travel advisors generally only get paid when you book, a research fee helps ensure that time is compensated.

Now don't panic! 😂

I ALWAYS tell my clients to ASK ALL THE QUESTIONS! Seriously, ask away! . Thats why I'm here! ❤️

I want you to feel comfortable, informed and excited about your vacation. My job is to take the stress out of planning so you can focus on the FUN part!

Comparing a few resorts, changing dates, asking questions and going back and forth is completely NORMAL! That's part of my job, and I'm happy to help!

But when we're researching half the planet, we might need to have a little chat about a research fee! 🤣

At the end of the day, I'm a single mom building a business, doing something I absolutely LOVE, and I genuinely appreciate every person who trusts me with their travel plans! ❤️

Let's talk about one of the most competitive sports at an all-inclusive resort...

THE 5 AM POOL CHAIR OLYMPICS!! 🏃‍♀️💨🤣

You know what I'm talking about! The people who are up before the sun, armed with towels, flip-flops and a mission to secure the BEST lounge chairs by the pool!

By 7 AM, every prime chair is taken... yet somehow, there's not a single person in sight! 😂

SOOO... ARE YOU A POOL CHAIR RESERVER?!

Do you set an alarm, claim your territory and head back to bed? Or are you more of a roll-out-of-bed-whenever-and-see-what's-left kind of vacationer?

I'll be honest... I'm TEAM FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED! 😂

I'm on vacation. The ONLY reason I'm getting up at 5 AM is to catch a flight... and even then, I'm not happy about it! 🤣

And if a towel has been sitting on a chair for three hours without a human attached to it... well, I may start questioning whether that towel is enjoying a better vacation than I am! 👀😂

I actually think this shouldn't be allowed at resorts (in my humble opinion, of course! 😂). If you're using the chair, fantastic! But reserving it for half the day - not so much!

I get it! Everyone wants a great spot by the pool. But claiming a chair at sunrise and showing up sometime after lunch might be taking things a LITTLE too seriously! 🤣

LET'S HEAR IT!!

☀️ TEAM EARLY BIRD – I earned that chair! My alarm went off at 5 AM!

🍹 TEAM GO WITH THE FLOW – I'll find a chair when I get there!

I mean, technically, it's YOUR seat. You paid for it, it reclines, so why shouldn't you?! 🤷‍♀️

OR... are you firmly on team ABSOLUTELY NOT?! 😳

How rude! What about the poor person behind you trying to enjoy their drink, eat their meal, or simply have some personal space?! BAD TRAVEL KARMA!! 😂

I'm genuinely curious because I feel like this is one of those travel debates that can really divide a room! 🤣

"Hey Keri! Do you have any good deals right now?"

Ahhh, the famous DEAL question! 😂

Here's a little secret... not every vacation price is a deal. Sometimes it's just the price! 🤷‍♀️

And unfortunately, I don't have a secret vault of $999 luxury vacations with oceanfront swim-up suites and unlimited margaritas. Trust me, if I did, I'd be sitting in one right now! 🍹🤣

🌴 SO, HOW DO WE FIND YOU A GREAT VACATION?

Instead of asking me what deals I have, tell me a little about what you're looking for!

✈️ Where would you love to go? Or are you open to suggestions?

📅 When are you hoping to travel? Are your dates flexible?

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 How many people are travelling? Ages of children matter too!

💰 And most importantly... WHAT'S YOUR BUDGET?

I can't stress that last one enough! Knowing your budget helps me find options that actually make sense for you instead of sending you a $7,000 vacation when you were hoping to spend $3,000!

💸 LET'S TALK ABOUT HOW FAST PRICES CHANGE!

Travel pricing is a moving target!

That vacation you saw for $1,899 this morning?

By supper it might be $2,149.

Tomorrow it could drop to $1,799.

And the following day? SOLD OUT! 😭

It's basically the stock market, except we're trading stocks for sunshine, sandy beaches and swim-up bars! 🍹😂

🛍️ AND WITH BLACK FRIDAY COMING... LET'S TALK ABOUT THOSE "SALES!"

I hear this one ALL the time...

"I think I'll wait until Black Friday. It'll be cheaper!"

Maybe! But there's absolutely no guarantee.

Just because a vacation has a big flashy BLACK FRIDAY SALE banner doesn't mean it's the lowest price that vacation has ever been.

Sometimes there are genuinely fantastic promotions! Other times, it's simply the current price dressed up in a fancy advertisement.

And while you're waiting for that magical sale, flights are filling up, popular resorts are selling out, and that beautiful swim-up suite you've been dreaming about might disappear.

Sometimes waiting saves you money. Sometimes it costs you more.

That's why I always say, if we find a vacation you LOVE, it checks your boxes, and it's within your budget, don't assume waiting will make it cheaper!

❤️ HERE'S WHAT I WANT YOU TO KNOW...

My job isn't to throw random vacations at you just because they're advertised as a "deal."

My job is to help you find a vacation that fits YOUR budget, YOUR travel style and YOUR expectations.

A $1,500 vacation isn't a great deal if you end up hating the resort.

And sometimes spending a little more gets you a whole lot more vacation!

With winter bookings picking up, I thought I'd share a few friendly (and slightly sassy 😂) reminders about working with me as your travel advisor!

🌴 1. MY TIME IS VALUABLE, JUST LIKE YOURS!

Here's something many people don't realize…

I only get paid commission when you actually BOOK your vacation with me!

All those hours researching resorts, comparing flights, checking prices, and answering questions? Unpaid until you book!

For standard all-inclusive packages, my commission comes from the travel supplier, not an additional booking fee charged to you.

I LOVE what I do, but just like you, I don't particularly enjoy working for free! 😂❤️

For large or complicated searches, a research fee may apply, which I'll always discuss upfront.

🔎 2. I'M YOUR TRAVEL AGENT, NOT YOUR PERSONAL GOOGLE SEARCH! 😂

I've already had people request vacation quotes while casually mentioning that others in their group are also searching for "deals" and they can't guarantee they'll book with me.

I'm sorry… WHAT?! 🤣 I'll politely pass on that one, thank you! LOL.

I completely understand wanting the best value, but I'm looking to work with people who genuinely intend to book with me, not collect quotes from multiple agents.

My time deserves the same respect as yours! ❤️

✈️ 3. READY TO VACATION? BE READY TO BOOK!

You don't need to know exactly which resort you want. That's where I come in!

But please have a realistic budget, travel dates, and be prepared to put down a deposit when we find the right fit.

Vacation prices and availability can change by the hour! ⏰

That amazing deal today could be hundreds more tomorrow, or completely sold out.

A quote doesn't secure your price, and waiting for a better deal can sometimes mean paying MORE.

When we find your perfect vacation, be ready to grab it! 🌴

👻 4. PLEASE DON'T GHOST YOUR TRAVEL AGENT! 😂

We've chatted, I've researched, sent options, answered questions…

And then… P**F! Gone faster than my motivation to shovel snow! 🤣❄️

Listen, I get it. Life happens!

Changed your mind? Budget changed? Decided to renovate the bathroom instead?

JUST TELL ME! ❤️

I promise I won't be offended. A quick message is all it takes!

If you come back months later, we'll simply need to start fresh with current pricing and availability.

💰 5. LET'S TALK ABOUT SHOPPING FOR THE "BEST DEAL."

Here's a little travel industry secret…

Most travel agents have access to the same major resorts, suppliers, and promotions!

Nobody is sitting on a secret stash of magical vacation deals they're hiding from everyone else! 😂

Yes, exclusive offers and group rates sometimes exist, but generally we're working with the same inventory.

So having five agents research the exact same vacation isn't necessarily going to get you a better price.

The difference isn't always the PRICE. It's the SERVICE!

I don't compete with other travel agents for bookings. I want clients who choose me because they value what I offer. ❤️

Booking a vacation should be FUN, not a second full-time job!
