Preparing for Hydro One’s Planned Transmission System Work That May Affect Your Electricity Service.
As a reminder, On Saturday September 26, between the hours of 9 pm and 9 am. Hydro One will be performing overnight transmission work that will temporarily reduce the power supply available to the community of Georgetown and its surrounding areas.
If your property is at risk of being affected by the scheduled planned transmission system work, a little preparation can help minimize the risk of a power outage or prepare you for disruptions:
*Charge cell phones, laptops, power banks, and other essential
devices ahead of time
*If you rely on electrically powered medical equipment, ensure
you have a backup power source or alternative arrangements in
place
*Keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed as much as possible
to help preserve food
*Unplug sensitive electronics, such as computers, televisions, and
gaming systems, to protect them from power fluctuations when
service is restored
*Ensure flashlights, batteries, and emergency supplies are easy to
access
*If you have an automatic garage door opener, know how to
operate it manually
*Turn off pool and hot tub filtration system or heaters overnight
*If you are on a well, fill some containers with water in advance of
the planned transmission work for drinking, flushing, etc
*Businesses should activate business continuity plans and ensure
backup systems are operational
*If using a generator, operate it outdoors only and follow all
manufacturer safety instructions
