By the time the fire is lit, the savannah has already gone quiet. This is the social heart of Nkasa Plains Camp — a fire pit set in open sand, with the plains of the Zambezi Region stretching out behind it. There is no competing light source out here, no town glow on the horizon. The chairs come out, the day is talked through, and the darkness beyond the fence belongs entirely to the bush. Nkasa Rupara is Namibia's largest protected wetland, and the camp sits directly on its border, on a private concession where nights feel genuinely remote.
