PRESS RELEASE:

June 9, 2016

RE: APPEAL FOR DONATIONS IN CASH AND KIND

We hereby write to appeal for donations from Malawians and friends of the Society of Malawians Living in Botswana (SOMABO).

We are a Society of Malawians and friends of Malawi living in Botswana with a membership exceeding 5 000 people made up of Malawians, Batswana and a few SADC countries. The Society is a non – political, non-profit making
registered organization in Botswana involved in various aspects of welfare and social responsibilities that included resource mobilization to share with the less privileged in Botswana.

This year, as part of Malawi’s 52nd Independence Anniversary Celebrations , we are mobilizing resources to make a donation of food, blankets and school shoes to an orphanage looking after 238 children in Maisane Settlement at Mosamowakwena Primary School which is approximately 90 Km from Gaborone after passing through Lobatse.

We will therefore be grateful if you would make donations in cash or in kind to assist those who are less fortunate to be part of our Independence celebrations.

Please contact the undersigned or any members of the SOMABO Executive Committee to make a donation.

MALAWI 52nd INDEPENDENCE CELEBRATION - REACH & TOUCH

Dear Malawians and Friends,

It is that time of the year again Malawi will take time to reflect on the past 52 years of independence and celebrate in style.

Our Theme this year is " REACH OUT AND TOUCH"

The Independence celebrations this year will be celebrated in two folds. We aim to collect extra funds to reach out and touch to a local charity organisation (TBA) and depending on the extra funds or items available, a Malawi charity organisation will also be touched by Malawians Living in Botswana.

This year we have also planned an Independence cultural fun day (venue TBA) on the 1st of July 2016 and a Dinner Dance at GICC on 9th July 2016. We have invited 2 number DJ's from Malawi (currently) to come and entertain us.

Tickets have been and are still available at only P350 to GICC Dinner Dance. The Cultural fun day will be free but we will have chargeable activities such as food. (details will be communicated within the next week).

Companies interested in sponsoring the independence celebrations must contact any of our committee members before or by 25th June 2016.
